What If...

Mama, Mama Can't You see

Rihanna calls her mother back home in Barbados to let her know she's on her way.

"Hey Robyn. I was gonna call you later today. How are you?"

"hey mama, i'm on my way there right now."

"is everything okay baby?" her mother says worried.

"um no" Rihanna says trying to keep from crying "ill tell you about it when i make it home"

"Okay what time will you be here so i can get everything ready for you and cook something?"

"I'll be there in a few hours."

"okay babe see you soon."

"okay mama." Rihanna hangs up and a tear falls down her face and she wipes it away quickly. The Pilot comes to tell her it's time to take off Rihanna says okay. The plane takes off and Rihanna falls asleep right way. Minutes before the plane is about to land Rihanna wakes up and checks her phone and sees several missed calls and text messages from Chris. "Are you okay" "is the baby okay" "when are you coming home" the messages read. She replies back "ill come home when you get help" and seconds after she sends the message he calls. She is hesitant to answer at first but answers anyways.

Chris starts talking as soon as the phone is answered. "Where are you? i want you to come home now. you are putting you and the baby's life in danger. You really can't be this stupid can you? You just gonna run home to your mother like a lil crybaby bitch." Rihanna hangs up.

"why you hang up? i wasnt done talking." Chris texts her.

Rihanna texts back "I'll listen to you when you talk to me with some sense." then turns her phone off. When the plane lands there is a car waiting for Rihanna to take her to her mother's house. She arrives at her mother house and rushes to the door and takes her bags and carries them to her room for her. After that they go to the kitchen where her mother has her favorite Caribbean dishes.
"I miss your cooking mama. Where's Rorrey and Rajad?"

"Rorrey Probably chasing some tail. and Rajad went out with his friends."

"Oh okay"

"So why are you here."

"Dang mama i can get up and leave right now if you want me to." Rihanna says laughing.

"no no babe you sounded troubled on the phone, What did you wanna tell me?"

"Well you're the only other person that will know besides Chris, But i'm Pregnant." Rihanna looks up to her mother

"Oh."

"Oh? really mama?"

"Well Robyn what do you want me to say? You're not married and you're having a baby."

"I Know. But that's not all."

"Well?"

"We almost lost the baby. There was blood everywhere. The doctor put me on bed rest and i'm not supposed to be doing anything that could jeopardize the baby's life."

"then Robyn why are you here? Chris let you come alone? You shouldn't have been on the plane at all. I knew he was no good, I told you to leave him long ago."

"No mama. He is good to me it's not his fault i left on my own. But he does need help. There was this story out about how people though he killed me because of the bloody mattress. And he got so angry i'd never seen him like that before. But he was throwing things and snatched the tv off the wall and destroyed the living room. And when he turned around it was like he wasn't himself his eyes were dark and he had no soul mama. But when he looked into my eyes it was almost like a switch in his brain flipped off. and he didn't remember doing it and was laughing and acting like everything was okay."

"Did he hurt you?"

"no he didn't but i was so terrified i told him to get help or i would leave and he said no the first time. So i started packing and he said he would get help. But i can't trust something like that won't happen again. what if next time he hurts me and i lose the baby? I can't risk it. So i'll go back when he finally gets help. I didn't want to leave him like that to go through that alone but i have to think of the baby now. I called his mother so she can be with him but i didn't tell her about the baby i only told her i was leaving until he gets himself together."

"Well you know you can stay here as long as you need to. Leave that psycho boy where he at."

"Mama he's not a psycho, he sick and i love him so you will not talk that way about him in my presence."

"Okay Robs i just don't want him hurting you. But okay. Let's get you in bed."

"Mama Im tired of laying in bed i wanna go out"

"The doctor says for you to stay in bed so that what you gonna do."

"Fine, but im not a little child any more ma."

"No but you are still my child so watch yourself."

Rihanna gets in bed and falls asleep watching tv.
