Christmas Concert

Today was the day of the Christmas concert. It was also the last day of school for two weeks because of Christmas break. Ben was due to fly out to London tomorrow morning, but he was fighting himself to change it to a few days from now. He wanted time to say goodbye to Cassie for two long weeks. It was killing him that it would be that long until he saw her again. 

They both spent an enormous amount of time together over the past two weeks and their love for each other only grew stronger. Cassie wasn't sure what to think about love or how it felt, but then she knew. She wasn't sure when she would know, but found out she's known all along. Her heart skips a beat when she sees him, she can't breathe when she thinks about him, can't think when she's around him. It was the most amazing feeling. 

Unfortunately, their time together today was scarce. They only saw each other when she walked into the theater and just gave each other a wave. The next time he saw her, she was in costume and ready to get up on stage. 

"Places everyone!" He called. Everyone got set up on stage for the short, four song play about Santa Clause. He could tell Cassie was nervous by how she was breathing and fidgeting in her place. He wanted to comfort her, kiss her, and tell her she was going to be great. If only he wouldn't get arrested for it. 

A few minutes later, the curtain started rising. Ben stood off stage and watched the opening song. He thought he was going to swoon with how beautiful her voice was. He watched the audience to see if they had the same jaw-dropping reaction. The majority of them did. He could see her mom in the back crying and Rob trying to comfort her with a proud smile. 

Ben looked back to Cassie and continued to watch with a smile. He could tell her nerves still hadn't subsided and as he looked through the audience once more, he saw why. Lindsay and her gang of sluts and douches were laughing at her. They were being quiet about it, but not subtle. 

"Fucking pricks," he muttered under his breath. He looked back to Cassie and saw her starting to choreograph on the stage like they rehearsed. At one point, she glanced over at him and he gave her a quick wink with a smile. 

That put a little smirk on her face. 

The show continued and the more it went on, the more Cassie's nerves went down. At one point, she had a couple of songs off. It gave her a nice fifteen minute break or so. She made her way down under the stage and sat down in one of the chairs as the muffled sound of the play continued. 

She was alone, which is what she was hoping for, but then she heard footsteps coming up behind her. She sighed and closed her eyes. "Your voice is like hearing angels sing," that deep, baritone voice said in her ear. He rumbled out a chuckle and went around to kneel in front of her. 

Cassie opened her eyes and saw him smiling adoringly at her. It was obvious enough that he knew something was wrong. He could read her like a book. "Don't let those cock-ups get to you," he said. "You're doing beautifully, Cass, and I couldn't be more proud."

That got her to smile and blush, while looking down at the ground. "I just don't understand why they came," she told him. He shrugged and told her, "I'm not sure, sweetheart. Unfortunately, I can't ban them from coming. I can report them, if you like." 

She shook her head. "No," she told him. "No, it's fine. I should start getting ready to get back out there." As she stood up, he got up with her. Ben took a quick glance around to make sure they were still alone, then looked back to her. 

"I want to see you tonight," he told her. "My flight is very early tomorrow morning and the thought of not seeing you for two weeks is driving me bloody insane. We can take a midnight stroll around the city?" Cassie smiled widely at that and said, "Yeah. Yeah, okay. I'm already looking forward to it."
