"Your my brother?" I ask, now fully aware of how much blood I've lost from the bullet wound.
"Yes. I know it sounds crazy..."
I stop him. "No. I've been through crazier. I trust you James."
"Bucky."
"What?"
"You call me Bucky. So did everyone else."
"Everyone else?"
"Yes. They're not around anymore."
"Oh." I look down, becoming lightheaded.
"We've gotta get that wound fixed. And ditch this car as soon as possible."
I nod. "I think. I'm just gonna..." That's when darkness overcomes me yet again.

I wake up in the back of a much smaller car. My shirt is blood free, in fact it's a different shirt.
"Bucky?" I ask.
"Yeah?"
"Where'd you find the hoodie?"
"Uh...I stole it."
"Of course you did."
"How you feeling?"
"Better. Where are we going?"
"Not sure. We've just gotta keep driving till we find a place to crash."
"And where would that be exactly?"
"I'm not sure. Abandoned apartment?"
"That works. How far are we from the HYDRA base?"
"Several miles. They shouldn't find us as long as we lay low."
I nod and lay my head against the window and watch as the road flies by.

A few hours later we make it to an apartment complex that looks to have been run down years ago. We park the car a block or so from the building. I pull the sleeve down on my hoodie to hide my metal arm. I notice Bucky does the same just before he opens the back car door and helps me out. We walk to the apartment and go into one of the rooms. There's no light, no heat, but it's better than HYDRA. It's better than how I'd been living for the past few weeks.
"We'll stay here for the night and get moving again." I hear Bucky say as I lay on one of the beds. "You listening Alex?" By this time I was already half away sleep. Too tired to answer I just laid there till Bucky got the hint. I felt a blanket being draped around me and cold metal hand on my good arm.
"Sleep well sis." I heard Bucky say before his own bed creaked as he lay down. Then a fell asleep.

The night was filled with horrible dreams. But one in particular had its effect on me.
There was that train again. Only this time I was walking on it. Fighting people alongside what appeared to be Steve and Bucky. Then Bucky and I were on the outside of the train hanging on tightly. I knew there was no getting back on. I knew Steve couldn't save us both. I turn to my brother. "Buck. Grab Steve's hand. If you move fast maybe he can pull you back onto the train." I say. "I won't leave you sis. I can't." He said. Steve was reaching for us with tears in his eyes. That's when the bar that was holding us broke and we were sent falling. "Bucky!!! Alex!!!" I heard Steve yell. Bucky took my right hand in his left as we fell to what was to be our presumed deaths. I was sure we both blacked out before we hit the ground. We woke up looking at each other and the blood surrounding the space between us. Those arms that once held a brother and sister together in their final moments where no severed from our bodies. His left and my right.

I woke up screaming and breathing hard. I felt for my arm but only felt cold metal.
"B-b-bucky?" I ask shaken tears welling in my eyes. I felt the bed sink in on one side and a metal hand holding my good one.
"It's ok. It was just a nightmare. Your ok."
"No. No." I shake my head tears streaming down my face. "It wasn't a dream. It was a memory. My arm. It's...it's gone. That's how I lost it."
Bucky just hugs me tightly. "I know it's hard seeing what happened. I saw it too once I escaped HYDRA. But your getting memories back."
"I don't want my damn memories back if they're all that freaky."
"Don't say that."
"It's true."
"I know they way you see the memories is scary. But I'm here."
I nod and calm down. "Buck?"
"Yeah?"
"Did we call you that a lot?"
"We?"
"Me and Steve. Did we call you Buck a lot?"
"Yeah. You all always seemed to shorten my name more and more."
I chuckle slightly. Then think about something else I really wanted to ask. "Have you spoken to Steve since you escaped?"
"No. I don't know how."
"I understand. And I feel the same way. Are we always going to run from him?"
"I don't know. Just get some sleep and don't worry about it, ok?" Bucky got up and laid on his own bed.
"Did I love him?"
"Yes, you and Steve were meant for each other. Never had I seen two people happier."
I smile slightly. "I want to see him eventually."
"I do too."
"You think he'll still love me?"
"Definitely. Now get some sleep."
I roll onto my side and fall asleep. This time my sleep in uninterrupted by nightmares.

The next morning I wake up to see Bucky on the floor curled into a little ball. He has tears welling up in his eyes.
"Buck? What's wrong?" I say and get up slowly. I kneel by him.
"I went out earlier. To see if I couldn't find clothes and food for us. And I just..." He shakes his head and cries harder.
"Please tell me."
"I tried to kill someone. Everything just shifted inside me. Everyone then became a threat and I grabbed the closest person to me and started choking the life out of him."
I look down not knowing what to say.
"I'm a monster, Alex."
"No. HYDRA is the monster. They did this to us. Do not blame yourself."
"I'll always be a danger to someone."
"Don't think like that."
He just nods as we both get up. "I'm gonna go back out. Just to see if I can find clothes and food ok?"
"Just be safe. Don't get caught by anyone."
"I'll be fine." He walks out of the apartment.
So then I'm left to my own vices. Left to let my mind wonder. Which only brings back the memories I'm already replaying in my head.
I'm left here for about an hour when the same feeling Bucky had hits me. Something snaps.
I grab the closest thing to me, which so happened to be sharp piece of broken floor board. I see people start to appear around me. All of them just looking at me. Looking at my arm. One of them has a gun. So I stab the wood into is chest.
I snap out of it once I hear the door to the apartment open. And someone grab me. It's Bucky.
"Alex? Are you ok?" He asks with true concern lacing his voice.
"What did I just do?"
"You stabbed the wall. Did you have the same feeling I had?"
I nod. "Rage. Like I was a target and everything around me was a threat. So I just started stabbing."
"It's gotta be the brainwashing effects."
"Maybe we should get help for this."
"No. We can get it under control."
I nod.
"Let's just stay in here for a while. See if anything else happens."
"Ok."
