Did you hear?

"Some had scars and some had scratches

It made me wonder about their past

And as I look around, I began to notice

That we are nothing like the rest"

When the final bell rang, I rushed outside in order to try and beat Justin to his car. Ever since he started driving me to school, Sophomore year, we always tried to see who would make it back to his car first. Of course, Justin usually beat me. I think it's because he cheats, but I have yet to figure out how he does it. I ran passed the cliques, dodged the hipsters, and even managed to avoid the populars. I thought I was making good time, but when I finally got to Justin's black Jeep, I noticed he was sitting in the front seat with a smile from ear to ear.

"C'mon Summer, you gotta be faster than that if you're gonna join track." he said as I hopped into the passengers seat.

"Damn it! How do you do it? It's like you're freakin' Flash or something!" I said, then threw my school bag into the back, along with Justin's.

"I would tell you, but-" he began.

"But then I'd have to kill you." I interrupted finishing his sentence.

"Now why do you think I was gonna say that?" he questioned, but when I started to answer he put his hand up as if to say 'be quiet'. He knew I hated when he did that, so I took the opportunity, and bit his hand. He quickly put it back down, and continued with his explanation, while rubbing the mark I had left."I was actually going to say, before you rudely interrupted, that if I tell you, you have to kiss me." he winked at me and started the car.

"Um, yea... No freak. I would rather kiss a goldfish, and risk getting Salmonella." I told him, in all seriousness.

"Ouch! That hurts, right here." he said, putting his fist over where his heart is.

"Doubtful, now put your hands back on the wheel. You want to get in an accident?" I asked, and then turned on the radio. When I did, 'hurricane' by 30stm came on, and I completely freaked out.

"Oh my gosh I haven't heard this in forever!" I shouted excitedly. Soon after Justin began singing very loudly with the windows down. He knew I got embarrassed easily, and kept singing all the way until we got to his house.

As we got out of the car, he said "please, hold your applause. You're the only reason I do this, without your love and support, I would be no where." I started laughing. Yea, sure Justin can be a total idiot sometimes, but he still made me laugh. We walked up to his door, he turned the door knob, and we walked inside. When we did, we both headed straight for the kitchen.

"Want anything to drink?" Justin asked, as he opened the fridge.

"Yea sure, I'll take a sprite." I said, while grabbing a bag of chips from the cabinet.

"Well, you know where the fridge is." He said, walking out and heading upstairs.

"What a jerk!" I yelled shortly after he left the room.

"I heard that!" He yelled from upstairs.

"Don't worry, you were meant to!" I yelled back. I grabbed my drink and the bag of chips, and headed upstairs to join him.

                                                             *     *     *

Justin and I were playing video games to pass the time until Alek got here. We waited two hours, and then he finally showed up. I guess he had decided to just walk in, like he usually did, because before I knew it someone had picked me up, and begun to spin me in circles. "Alek, put me down!" I screamed. He didn't listen, so I decided the best way to get him to put me down was to pinch him. He immediately dropped me to the ground. I have to admit, it was a little fun hearing Alek screech in pain, and it was definitely worth the bruise I knew I would have by tomorrow morning.

"Damn, that hurt! Summer how about you cut your nails sometime?" He asked . I looked over at Justin, and we both busted out laughing.

"But these are the only weapons I have against mean, and scary boys like yourself." I told Alek in a mocking voice, when we had recovered from our fit of laughter.

"Men. Mean and scary men like myself." He corrected.

"Ha-ha-ha, so why are you late?" I asked, like I even cared.

"Why does it matter to you?" Alek asked, defensively.

"It doesn't, I was just trying to make conversation." I said back, just as rudely as him.  Alek and I just stared each other down, until, Justin broke the silence.

"So! Anyway, me and Summer were just talking about that bonfire this Saturday. Wanna come?" Justin asked Alek.

"Yea, man... I guess. Who's having it?" he asked confused.

"Well, we don't exactly know. Brit just sent me a text about it." Justin answered. Brittany, "Brit", always had the low down on all the major social events. I guess she thought it was her job as captain of the cheer leading squad, to invite everyone to the parties, or in this case, Bonfires.

"Hey, Summer... I think you got a text." Justin told me. I looked over on the bed, and sure enough, the little screen was lighting up with my mom's picture on it.

"Hey honey, dinner is ready. Do you think Justin can bring you home, or do you need me to pick you up?" I read the text aloud. I turned towards Justin and gave him a look as if asking 'so?'.

"Yea, I can give you a ride." he said, answering my silent question. He got up and we headed downstairs.

"So, am I just supposed to wait here, while you take her home?" Alek asked as he followed us.

"Yes... I mean, if that's what you wanna do." Justin replied, slowly.

"Well, okay then. But hurry up I might just have to rade your kitchen." Alek said, jokingly.

"Do not step foot in the kitchen." Justin said before opening the door. Even though Alek was, as some would say, tall, dark, and handesome, once he started eating, it was nearly impossible to get him to stop. With that final thought Justin and I headed out the door.
