Early in the morning the next day the guards woke everyone up. As I arise from the bed I remember what happened last night. The arena looked very dim and gloomy, but the only thing I think about right now are the events that happened last night. Who was that man? Why did he care about me? Is he my age or older? Was he Vitality? If not, which caucus is he from? Why did he knock me out and leave me there? Why did he knock me out period? Did he mistake me for someone else? As these questions formulate inside of my head they start to worry and frustrate me. Then I remember I can't worry I'm behind only five people for the test. Layla stands directly behind me and Bash stands two people behind her. They don't seem weird or phased. It must have been only me.
In about an hour the last girl in front of me, who looked extremely nervous, went inside the Questing area. It takes almost an hour to go through all of the different tests. Six different test taking ten minutes each. The scoring has an awkward way of, well, scoring. You start with ten points in the caucus you were born into, which is about 5% of the points allowed to receive, which is 200. These two hundred points are divided into three parts. Which include Difficulty, Execution and Information. Difficulty is applicable of 50 points and Execution and Information are each worth 75 points. This is all confusing, but helpful if you are someone like me who actually cares about their life.
Seconds pass, soon turning into minutes, and then feeling like hours. After what it had seemed like a day, which was only thirty minutes and seventeen seconds, guards came to escort me to the Questing area.
"Excuse me, are you Jemma Lotus?" The guard walked toward me gripping a clipboard.
Shivers move down my spine as I stutter, "Y-Yes, may I s-say g-good-b-bye?" I feel like a five year old again as I get scared waiting the guards answer. He nods, knowing how I felt, for he was in our shoes a couple of years ago. I turn and see Layla smile at me making me smile at Layla.
We hug as she says, "This is the beginning of the rest of your life, so take a hold of it, and fly." Her words hit me and echo inside my head until I arrive at the front door of the Quest, thoughts run through my head about last night, my life and all of the people I might not see again.
