I felt relief as he invited me to the movies. It was all happening so quick. One second he's actually apologizing and the next he's inviting me to the movies, when a week ago he hated my guts.
What was his motivation? Do I trust it?
Kailey was no help as she merely brushed aside the whole situation. Maybe she was just distracted.
A few seconds late her phone died, and she shifted her attention to me. "Do you even realize what's going on? He just invited me to the movies!"
Kailey now payed attention. "He invited you on a date?" She said, fixing her knee sock and redoing her bun. "What are you gonna say?"
I stared at my phone, thinking. What do I say? I began to type "yea, sure" as Kailey leaned over my shoulder to read the conversation.
"Is it just you two?"
"I mean I'll find out in a second. I hope it's not, what if this is all bullshit?" Did it really seem plausible? It seemed out of a movie. I was confused and relieved but at the same time my heart was pounding with anxiety. What if I got stood up? What if it's a joke?
We texted back and forth for a while. I found out it would be me, Isaiah, my old friend Clover, and one of Isaiah's friends.
As Kailey and I got in bed, I stared at the ceiling, my hands on my chest. This was happening, Isaiah invited ME out. He apologized. This was happening.
