It's Friday afternoon, and the sun is not shining on this chilling, November day. You can feel the cold coming in fast as it announces a seasonal change. I bundled up nicely for school because I hate the cold, even though it's not that cold. Julie mocked me this morning, claiming I was exaggerating. I ended up stuffing my giant coat and scarves into my locker upon arriving to school.
"You're such a pansy, Hay," John says as he tried to close my overly-stuffed locker.
"Shut up, I brought your nebulizer." I reach into my backpack and pull out a fully equipped nebulizer. He looks at me with wide eyes and laughs. "What?" I ask confused.
"You're an insane pansy. Here, I'll put it in my locker." He takes the nebulizer and walks to his locker a few feet away.
I lean on my locker as Kela pops up from behind me. "'Sup slut?" She greets me so politely. She's wearing torn leggings with a long red shirt-dress. Her beautiful hair hangs wildly about her small chest and she smells wonderful.
"Don't call me that," I say giving her a hug.
"Sorry, I tend to forget who the real slut is here." She laughs and shoves my shoulder. "Anyway, you know what day it is?"
"November nineteeth?"
"No....well...yes.....but it's Friday!"
"Yes, Friday, November nineteen. Did I forget something? Is it your birthday or something?"
She scoffs loudly, "Psh, no! My birthday is in February. Pisces, remember?"
"Yes, Pisces. Then? What's the deal?"
"It's Friday!" She pauses for a moment then proceeds, "Long-story-short, we're going to have a show tonight at Ben's house. We'll mostly be doing bad ass covers, so you better be there. Since John has some kind of disease, I'll be subbing in a lot and helping him out."
"Paramore covers?" I ask smiling.
"You know it." She turns around to see John coming towards us, "Oh and if you don't mind can I....?"
I nod nonchalantly accepting our usual routine. Before most parties, Kela gets ready at my house because her parents are extremely Christian and don't even like her showing her knees. Perhaps, Kela's family oppression is what's led her to be so wild and eccentric. Pisces, remember? The ripped leggings she's wearing were probably brought with her and she changed in the bathroom. Her piercings go through the same procedure.
"Kay, I'll see you around six?" She asks as John stands patiently behind her.
"Yes, ma'am."
"Luckily, I have today and the rest of the weekend off. Being sick rocks. I'm assuming she just told you about tonight?" John interjected.
"Yeah, I don't count on you to update me anymore."
John raises his eye brows and holds his hands up, "I was just told about this when I walked over to my locker."
I look over at Kela questionably. "He's telling the truth. I just concocted this with Ben last night," she says.
John nudges Kela playfully, "Cocking with Ben last night, huh?"
Kela shoves him back, "As much as I would enjoy that, his sister would flip a shit and a half."
John rolls his eyes, "She's crazy. She's still in love with you?"
"I wouldn't go as far as to use the word 'love' but, yes, she wants to tap this." She points at herself proudly. She spots Ben walking through the halls and hand signals that the current conversation is over. "Okay, Hayden, see you at six." She tugs at my ponytail and walks over to Ben with all her feathers ruffled in a mating call.
