Ch.35
"Where's Beth? You said, you would try." Louis accuses. He sounds hopeful, like he was hoping, that maybe because its been a week, Beth would magically forgive him. But the way she's been, and how sad she seems, I doubt they're reconciliation will happen any time soon.
"I tried, Lou. She didn't want to come. Said she was tired." I try to say it nonchalantly, hoping that he'll just leave it at that, because she's pregnant. But Louis' face has dropped and his shoulders are hunched, which means he didn't believe it like I had hoped.
"Well that's it," Louis says, slamming his pencil on the table. "I'm going to fix this, and I'm going to fix it now." He gets ready to walk away, but I can't let him go. So I grab his bicep, as he glares at me. "Let go." He grits out. But I can't. This isn't about Louis. This is about Beth and what she's been feeling. I've been with Beth since she's opened up that damn letter. And half of me wishes she hadn't because right now my baby is a mess. She hasn't cried, and that's what is really bothering me, because I know she should've let it out by now. She should be healing and trying to move on. But instead, she's pretending like it hasn't happened. Like nothing is wrong. On top of that, she refuses to see Louis, or to even step foot in a place where Louis might be. She just shakes her head and says something about not being ready.
"Louis, she doesn't want to see you," I admit, trying not to feel any remorse at the way Louis' eyes have visibly sadden. "Just, give her space. She'll come to you, when she's ready."
Louis shakes his head, and moves out of my grip. "No she won't Harry. This is Beth we're talking about. Once you hurt Beth, she's done."
"No," I say, placing my hand on his shoulder. "I've fucked up a billion times Lou. If you mean it, Beth will forgive you." That's all the help I can offer, and it's all I can do.
"I just miss her, Har-"
"Harry Edward Styles!" Louis' eyes widen as Beth storms over. And I'm glad she's finally left our hotel room, but I don't think she's here because she missed me. I look up, and I'm slightly nervous to have Beth and Louis so close. "What the fuck is wrong with you?!" She stops right in front of me, her arms crossed over her chest. She's got black leggings on and one of my sweaters. Her make up is done and my lucky hat is on her head. And she looks like she's ready to go out, which means I think I know why she's here.
"Hello gorgeous, come kiss me, before you kill me." I say, while pulling on her arm gently and moving her to stand in front of me. I steal a quick kiss and when I pull away, I jus want to cuddle her. "Okay, okay. There's no need to be so upset" I say, trying to calm her down. Her mouth pops open, as she backs away. And I'm not sure if she's seen Louis yet.
"There's....there's no need to be so upset?" She repeated, batting away my hands. "You little shit! Why the fuck, did you tell some man-a man that I've never seen before-to not let me leave! Why am I not allowed to go anywhere besides here?"
I sigh and I'm slightly less nervous now that I'm finally able to touch her. "Well, I seem to remember someone running out of the restaurant a week ago, and then not coming back for three hours," she rolls her eyes, and mumbles something under her breath. "I'm just trying to protect you." I shrug. She arches her brow and stares at me with crossed arms.
"I don't....Louis." She breathes out. Louis just stands there gaping at Beth. His mouth opens like he wants to say something-and he really should say something before Beth runs. "Okay...I'm.....fuck why am I here...." She mumbles looking down. She pats my arms and turns to walk away with her head down.
"No, no, baby. Come on, it's been a week. Talk to him." I say, holding on to her waist. Her back facing me. She doesn't say anything, and if Louis doesn't say something soon, I'm going to kick his head until he does. "For me?" I ask, and nothing. I sigh and pat her stomach. "For our tiny person?"
"You don't play fair." She murmurs. She turns around and buries her face against me. And the fact that Louis hasn't said anything yet, makes me want to throw water at him over and over again.
I look over at Louis and push him with my free hand. He shakes his head, finally falling out of his daze.
"Beth? Come talk to me. I need you to talk to me." Louis pleads. I don't know if it's going to work. I'm not sure that I want it to work. And that's awful.
Beth pulls away and looks over at a nervous Louis. She doesn't say anything, she just looks. And then, after seconds of tense silence she nods and looks up at me. "I'm not sure, I like you anymore." She says. She leans up and kisses me, before looking at Louis and sighing. "Come Louis." She holds out her hand. Louis bops his head and takes her offered hand. They walk out of the room, as my phone buzzes against my thigh.
"Hello?" There is muffled sound before it suddenly goes quiet.
"I miss you."
Oh no. Please no. No. NO.
"Lilly." I'm fucked.
