A Strange Hope

I'm sorry if my book changes tenses a lot I don't mean to but it just happens so sorry :)

I watched as Gray and Natsu came into view arguing and half fighting they stopped in front of me and didn't even notice me. I sat there and watched them while they fought harder and harder. I don't know why this ticked me off but it did.

STOP I yelled in both their minds. Through all this Happy was flying around. He had landed next to me and he was looking up into my face. Natsu harrumphed and sat down where as Gray still stood there frozen.

"HI Happy Gray, I am Hyna a mage in Fairy Tail." Gray slowly turned around and sat down hard.

"I'm sorry about being so harsh but I wanted to talk to you two," Gray seemed to snap out of it. He looked at me and shook his head.

"If your a Fairy Tail mage I would know you, therefore you are not part of Fairy Tail now stop wasting my time and get out of here," Gray said calmly.

"Wait let me explain," I begged surprised at his harshness.

"She really is a member," Happy butted in. I looked at his surprised that he knew.

"Exceeds can see people with invisibility curses, sorry for not talking to you earlier but you were always caught up in a book, me and Charlie decided to leave you be," Happy said looking up at me. I was shocked and a little hurt but I shook off both and looked down at the little blue exceed.

"I forgive you Happy. I understand," then I remembered Gray I turned back to him and saw that he was staring at me.

"So you have an invisibility curse," he said softly.

"Yes my mom put it on me to protect me," I responded on the verge of tears. I blinked them away looked down.

"I'm sorry," he whispered. I whipped my head up to look at him in surprise.

"I accept your apology," I said formerly.

"But will you let me join you team? Natsu invited me but I wanted to get the whole teams permission to join," I asked him hopefully as well as Happy.

"Of course," They said in unison smiling up at me.

"Yay! I can join the team then," I said jumping up I ran over and hugged Natsu then hugged Happy and Gray.

"Thank you!" I cried with joy. I started walking back to the guild. I turned around.

"Come on guys!" I called out to them. Happy caught up to me and landed in my hands. I hugged him again feeling so happy (not to be confused with Happy). I ran back to the guild completely visible to everyone without even trying. I pushed open the doors and waved at Mira. She raised her eyebrows. I gave her the thumbs up and she returned them smiling. Lucy smiled up at me. 

"Welcome to the team!" She said smiling. I grinned and sat down at the table next to Erza. Then I realized that everyone was staring at me. 

"Hi!" I called. Waving to my confused guild. Then I stopped completely still my hand still raised. My mouth fell open then I flickered out of view. I sat down hard and cleared my mind of everything. I focused all my energy into being seen and then I flickered back my head resting in my hands. I felt the eyes of everyone on my suddenly I hated being seen. I went back to being invisible and walked out of the guild.  

Happy followed a couple minutes later alone to go and find her. 

Happy found me back at my mom's grave crying hard. I sat there next to the small pile of stones and wept like a baby. Happy came over to me and wriggled into my grasp so I was holding him. He looked up at me and connected to my mind. He sent me comforting thoughts. I laid down and gripped Happy like he was a teddy bear. I fell asleep like that with him comforting me.

Time skip: The Next Day

I awoke in the forest gripping Happy. I checked my watch and it was already 9AM I gasped, and shook awake Happy.  

"It's nine, we need to go," I said scrambling to get up.  Happy yawned and stretched.  He opened his gorgeous white wings.  He flew up to me and landed in my arms so I was cradling him. 

"Thank you Happy," I told Happy smiling down at him.

"You looked sad so I wanted to help," Happy said stubbornly.  I just sigh in response and start walking towards the guild.  I flicker out of visibility in the normal plane but Happy could still see me.  He looked up and grinned.

I slowly opened and closed the doors as not to attract attention.  I was still invisible but I didn't like getting stared at.  I carry happy over to Natsu and gently set him on Natsu's shoulder.  Natsu whipped his head around but only saw Happy.  I kiss Happy goodbye on the top of his head and go back to my book.

Natsu looked over in my usual corner and must have seen the floating book.  He narrowed his eyes and then got up.  He slowly approached me.  I sighed and flickered in visibility for just a second so he would know that I was there.  He plopped down next to me and looked over at me.

"Why are you here all alone?" He asked me finally after staring at me for like ten minutes.  I looked up at him from my book.

"I guess it's just a habit of mine to sit and read a book," I tell him smiling (not like he can actually see me but you know oh well).

"We're goanna go on a mission and I was wondering if you wanted to join us, I mean now that your on the team," Natsu asked looking me directly in the eye.  I freeze when he does that.

"Can you see me?" I ask him completely forgetting his question.

"Yeah, why?" He asked puzzled.  I sucked in a breath and thought about how to tell him.

"Because... I'm not... trying to be visible...," I told him slowly looking in his eyes.  He stared back dumbfounded.

"But," He started, thinking...
