Wow! 17 questions to answer for my first "You Asked, I Answered." I'm so excited to answer these! Let's get started! I will put who asked the question and their question in bold and then I will put my answers in normal text! Here we go!
@Narcissa1996 asked: How old is Daryl in My Damaged Savior? When he found out that Madeline is in her early 20s, he called her a child, but I do not believe that his age has been revealed.
Good question! But yes you are absolutely right, Daryl's age isn't revealed in MDS! It's also not revealed in FTLOD and so far hasn't been revealed in DB&BA. Unless I otherwise state in the story, Daryl's age (along with Merle's if he's in the story) stay around what The Walking Dead has their age. In Daryl's case, his age is late 30s to early 40s. Obviously that progresses the longer the show goes on. In FTLOD, I never revealed his age, but I did state that he was younger than his show. If I remember correctly, I said that Emery hadn't seen Daryl in seven years. They were together when they graduated high school then they broke up. Which would make Daryl and Emery around 25 now. In MDS, Maddie is in her early 20s and Daryl is kept in his late 30s early 40s. In DB&BA (I'm not sure if you have read it yet, but in Chapter 2, I talk about Olivia (the main character's age.) She was 18 when she joined the Army and now the apocalypse is 15 years later making her around 33. Daryl and Merle are both older than her. Both being the age of what they show wanted them to be. Daryl is late 30s to early 40s and Merle is late 40s to early 50s. In my Norman Reedus fanfics, I state his age because I base it around his acting career. LOTE I started in April of 2013 making Norman 44. In SSL, the story is based around 2009 when BDS II was about to come out so Norman is 40. You have good attention to detail! I hope that helps!
@Road2Woodbury asked: Why did you choose Norman Reedus to write about?
Because I hate him and I hope my fanfiction makes him miserable. No, I'm just kidding. When I first saw your question that was the first thing that popped into my head. I'm a sarcastic bitch! Anyway, Norman Reedus, yes, that fine specimen of a man. The first movie I ever saw Norman in was Boondock Saints. I saw the movie when I was younger and kind of lost track of Norman. But when The Walking Dead came out I squealed like an 11-year-old girl at a Jonas Brothers concert when Norman popped up as Daryl on my screen. I watched TWD and instantly became interested in Norman as a person and was interested to see what other movies he had done. I went to IMDb and searched him to find his movies and started there. Then he came to a local Comic Con and I went and met him. I've met him four times now. When I met him in person it just gave me a good perspective as to what he was like. Daryl Dixon is easy to write about because I have 6 seasons of a T.V. show to work with, and if I ever wanted to do a fanfiction on another one of his movies it would be easier because I could watch the movie himself. But Norman himself I spent time watching Comic Con panels and interviews and meeting him was icing on the cake to see how he acted. The reason I started writing fanfiction about Norman himself instead of just Daryl Dixon is because I love how down to earth Norman is as a person. He doesn't let the glitter of Hollywood go to his head. He hates the term "celebrity" he prefers to be called a "working actor" which stood out a lot to me. Just because he's on the big screen doesn't mean he's any better than us. He still has to make a living for himself and his son. And all of that I just said, I hope it portrays in my stories when it comes to Norman because I think we people here "fanfiction" they automatically think that the celebrity has to be a big hot shot who anyone drools over and I wanted to show that Norman isn't like that at all.
@MeanVillian asked: What got you inspired to write stories?
I grew up as an only child. I had a half brother from my dad's side who is four years older than me. I never saw him except for holidays so it was just me growing up. Being an only child caused me to have to be really creative. I didn't have that sibling I could play make believe with. I would go outside and just imagine that my front yard was something else. I made my own mini golf course out of traffic cones, brick, and card board boxes. I used to jump rope with a dog leash. I found anything to keep my mind busy. When I was in school, I was overly advanced. I was reading way beyond my grade and I became bored in my classes because it all made sense to me and it was too easy. When I was in 5th grade I entered a creative writing contest in my state. I never thought I would win and I was shocked when I did. I wrote a children's book and the winner got to have the book published in the schools in their county. That really started it for me. I wrote books and had my English teachers read them and correct them. Then I would rewrite. My senior year of high school I had the opportunity to write a book. That book along with the sequel are now on Amazon and you can also buy both published books from me if you're in the USA! Just go to Amazon and search this:
