"Your focus determines your reality."~ Leo Babauta
I panted, hands on my knees, as I finished my last lap before heading to the training grounds. Since a strict practice from camp was keen hearing I could easily pick up on the warriors chatter about who their trainer was to be.
I stepped on to the field and all eyes snapped to me. I noticed a few of the guys from my school. I made it to the center of the field, hands folded behind my back.
"Uhm, ladies camp is that way girly." Some redhead spoke. I watched as he soaked in the few chuckles from his friends.
Moving on I was sure to make a mental note about his easily detected attention seeking. He'd be a problem.
I cleared my throat before projecting my voice towards them. "My name is Kamorii or Kay for short, I'll be training you guys from here on out, now-" I was interrupted by a blonde who I think was named Yvonne.
"You're a chick. How could you possibly teach us anything?" Everyone hummed in agreement with his question as he squinted his eyes and cocked his head to the side resembling a confused puppy.
From his demeanor and way in which he asked the question I could tell he meant no harm and was only responding the way his parents, most likely father, had raised him to.
"Well, I can assure you I'll be teaching you more than you'd ever hoped to learn." I responded voice harder than I'd originally planned.
His expression changed from one of confusion to one of a scolded puppy. I felt a small tug at my emotions. If I had a guess I'd say it was regret.
Even after seeing his face I couldn't bring myself to apologize. Looking over the crowd I decided to get straight down to business.
"Okay, today we are working on your senses." After those eight words left my mouth, protest went up.
"Did I ask what you wanted to do?!" My voice demanded silence. "Didn't think so."
"You all may think it's about your fighting skills, but when you're out on night patrol with your Alpha's life on your hands, you need to be able to hear, see, and feel when the enemy is near." I paused looking at their faces.
"Someone could be preparing to attack your Alpha and you'd never hear the leaves they crunched on the way over, and when your Alpha is dead, fighting will be too damn late." I rolled my eyes.
"Now line up in six rows of eight. Do it now!" Now down to business.
After hours of training on senses I let everyone leave except one boy named Tyson.
He walked towards me, dragging his feet. "Oh no, no, no, this was training for babies! You won't even break a sweat." I mimicked his attitude at the beginning of training.
"Look, I know who you are, and I know you used to be the weakest link, so don't come at me with your tough girl act." He stated standing in an "intimidating" manner.
I just stared at him until he finished, unaffected by his words. "Uhm look dude, I could care less what you think you know about me, just know that I will lay your ass out on this grass if you disrespect again, like you did today."
I turned on my heels already forgetting the situation. I learned not to hold on to grudges. Each day is a new one and another chance for you to better yourself.
I heard him before I saw him. He moved to swing at the back of my head. I spun around kicking his feet from under him and pinning his left arm to right shoulder blade gradually pushing it upwards.
