Two days later, Jace finally admitted that she needed to talk to Cas. At 1am, she got up and went to see Callum. She needed some advice.

Not even bothering to knock as he wouldn't have heard anyway – he was a very heavy sleeper and once slept through a minor earthquake – Jace entered Callum's bedroom. Callum was huddled beneath a duvet and an extra blanket, and looked a bit like a giant worm. Jace paused for a moment, deciding on how best to wake him, then took a few steps back and ran forwards, jumping onto Callum.

"OW! The fuck, Jace??!!" Callum glared from under the duvet at Jace, who was sprawled on top of him.

"I need some advice." Jace replied, rolling down so she was sitting up next to him and ignoring his angry you-always-need-advice and can't-it-wait-till-the-morning grumbling. "I'm gonna talk to Cas, but I dunno how." She explained, once he'd stopped complaining, and waited several moments. "Help?" She prompted when Callum had offered nothing in return, who gave a small, weary sigh.

"Is this talking about the fight, about your squish, or just talking since the fight?"

"All three, really. Mostly about the squish, but the fight would come into it."

Callum looked at her as if to say 'you woke me up for this?' "Text her saying 'I need to tell you something, wanna meet up after college' or something like that. When you two meet up, apologise for fighting one of their friernds, and explain that you've got a squish on them." Callum's tone was monotone, and Jace couldn't tell if he was too tired to add emotion, bored of the situation, or thought that this was the most obvious thing to do and how could she have not seen that? Jace asked him what she should do after that, and Callum's reply was both exhausted and monotone: "See what they say. I don't know how they're going to respond so you're on your own there, kiddo."
