“I can protect myself, I don’t need a man. I’ve business to attend to so move out of my way.” Shoving his shoulder, I started heading for the door again. Out of nowhere, he grabbed my wrist and violently shoved me against the bar.
Looking me up and down, he tightened his grip on my wrist. “And what business is that? You meeting some ass here later or something? I could show you a way better time…” Leaning down, he attempted to kiss me before I had time to reply. Moving my head out of the way, he grabbed my face and shoved his lips on mine. Struggling, I tried my best to pull away. Nobody was paying attention to what was going on, everybody else was in their own world. Behind the young elf, a hooded man grabbed him by the collar. I had seen him before somewhere, maybe it was him.
Pulling the elf away from me, he grabbed my arm and started to pull me away. The young boy looked at him and started to follow us, grabbing his shoulder; he turned the hooded man around and attempted to punch him in the face. Grabbing his boy’s fist, he twisted his arm and shoved him against the bar. Pulling a dagger out, he put it against the elf’s neck and mumbled something to him. Letting him go, the boy ran off. Looking at me, he grabbed my wrist and led me to the back room that he had come from.
The hooded man sat in a chair, a hood guard closed the room door behind me. I looked at him and then glanced around.
“Where’s your brother, Mira?” Setting his feet on a table, he leaned back in his chair. His face was still covered by his damn hood. I wasn’t sure if I could trust him.
“He’s dead in the forest. Lilia’s men killed him. Before I tell you anything more, do I even know you?” I looked at him and walked over. Sitting on the edge of the table, I waited for him to respond to me.
“You don’t know me very well, but I know you. But I know everyone.” Standing up, he stood in front of me. Bringing both hands up, he slid his hood back, revealing himself to me. He was a lot more attractive than I thought. He had ivory skin, short, gold hair, and eyes the color of rusted metal. He was really tall compared to me, maybe 6’1”, slender and had a seemingly well-toned body. It seemed like he almost never frowns, but yet doesn’t smile. I stared into his eyes in awe.
“Are you Daemon by any chance? I-I’ve been meaning to meet with you…” Glancing off to the side, I wasn’t sure what to do, besides what happened a while ago, I’d never been this close to a guy before.
Gently grabbing my chin, he turned my head to face him, locking his eyes with mine. “I am. What would such a beautiful girl of royalty want with such a filthy gutter rat like me?” Daemon took a step forward, closing the gap between our bodies. Our lips were only a couple centimeters apart, I felt as if I was paralyzed. Was I going insane? Or did I just like being this close to him?
“You’re not a ‘filthy gutter rat’. You’re just a normal person like me and any other person on the Earth.” Staring into his eyes, I couldn’t look away. Smiling at me, my heart started racing, my head began to spin and I couldn’t see straight. God he was gorgeous. “Why would you say such a thing about yourself? You don’t look like any gutter rat I’ve ever seen.”
Lowering his voice to a husky whisper, he lightly brushed his lips against mine. “That’s because you’ve never seen me. I am a rat after all. Staying in the shadows is my area of expertise.” Pulling away from me, Daemon walked over to a dresser and opened a drawer. Pulling out a bunch of papers, he slammed the drawer shut and came back over to me and tossed the papers on the table behind me. “There, all the information that you will need on everything Lilia has ever done, and all the people she’s been in contact with up until her death.” Looking at me, he started heading to the door. “If you ever need anything, I’ll be here.” Pulling up his hood again, he opened the door and was gone from my sight. Turning around, I started to sort through the papers, skimming over the words quickly. Coming upon one of the last documents, I came across something about Robert.
