Merlin's POV
Murder, lost loves and mad laughter fill Merlin's mind, him unable to do anything about it. He's been like this for nearly a week, and he's beginning to hate Mordeth more than ever. Not only has he been driving Merlin insane, he's also started plotting to kill the king. If Merlin doesn't find a way to get rid of him soon, he may succeed. Merlin has no idea where Arthur has gotten off to, but he had better come back soon. There is no way Merlin can take care of this alone.
Shut up, boy. Stop trying to fight me. I can feel you going mad already. Soon, you won't want to fight. You'll join me. You should be honored to have me here. Stop trying to fight this.

Dean's POV

"So, what did you need, Doctor?" I have no idea if I believe this, but Sam seems to and so does Cas, so I guess I have no choice. I guess Cas knows me, or at least could read my thoughts, because he takes my hand in his and gives it a reassuring squeeze.
"I need help with a demon. I saw Merlin getting possessed. He is the most powerful wizard in all of human history- believe me, I would know- and all that power is in the hands of a demon. Can you help?"
I'm about to say something snarky about how we don't have any of our gear- I never fully form what I'm going to say before I do, it cheapens the moment-  but Sam beats me to it. "We can't do anything without our things. Unless you guys have red spray paint, a lot of salt and demon trap inscribed handcuffs laying around. We need to go back."
"No need. I'll go." Cas, always helping out, always making things easier, flaps himself away and is back nearly before I notice he left, holding everything we need. Thanks baby. You're amazing.
I love praying to Cas like this, because he always gets flustered and he blushes a lot.
"Thanks, Cas. Now, where is he? Or maybe a room so we can get ready?" Sam loves being ready.

Arthur starts up the steps and says "Follow me. I'll show you where you need to go." We all follow him up the pristine white steps into the castle- the castle!- and soon we are all pouring inside. "You can set your things in here, as well as prepare anything you need. I'll be back with clothing that will fit and look appropriate. Then I will show you Merlin." With that he leaves, looking ready to cry.
"I hope he's alright." Sam is always worried about people, always being compassionate to complete strangers for no reason. "He seems really upset over this."
"He's going to be fine, as long as we do our job right. Get over here and help me."

Arthur's POV
As soon as I'm out of earshot, I start crying. I make sure it's as silent as I can make it, so that it's only noticeable because of the tears running freely down my cheeks. I can't believe that Merlin is gone, even though that's all I can think about. He has to be alright. He has to be saved. I hurry along to the armory and grab the necessary equipment. I hope they both know how to put it on, because I won't help them. They have to look right, and besides, they could use the extra protection.

I get the materials and go to my father's chambers. I suppose he should know what's going on. As I round the corner into the hallway outside the room, I see Merlin walk out, looking satisfied and smelling faintly of... Blood. As soon as he has gone from the hall and is well away, I run into the room. Greeting me, is my father's lifeless body on his bed. On the walls, a message is scrolled in what seems to be his blood. I'm going to be sick. The message reads: "Hello Arthur. You're next." Oh, God almighty!
I drop the armor and swords and bolt out of the room as fast as I can, only to run into Merlin standing stock still. I start to back away, but before I can, his eyes turn from the beautiful blue they normally are to entirely black at the same time that he grips my neck inhumanly tightly. I want to run, but even if I hadn't been being lifted from the ground with my neck, I wouldn't have been able to move a muscle. My father dead, the love of my life gone. I couldn't care less about my own life, only about the kingdom and Merlin.

Merlin drops me, smiling, and raises his fist, unclenches it and a small flame pops into existence above his open palm. The flame grows and grows until it's a roaring ball of fire bigger than my head. This is it. I'm going to die.

Over Merlin's shoulder, I see the brothers, neither very alarmed. The taller one- Sam, I think- has a large book in his hands, open in the middle, and he's reciting something from it.
"Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestus, omnis incurcio infernal- " the rest is cut off by Merlin's screams- no, not Merlin's. The demon's. As Sam continues reciting the chant, Merlin starts attacking him, however feebly. Dean is there to protect him, making sure not to hurt Merlin too much. Still, he won't be having much fun when he wakes up, safe. Safe. That word in combination with Merlin makes me so unbelievably happy. He's going to be safe. I nearly start laughing with joy, but then I snap back to the present and realize the brothers are falling back. Not hurting Merlin is making it very difficult to keep him back.

I rush into his back and take him to the ground. He'll probably be hurting when he is demon free, but it's worth it. He struggles underneath me, but Sam is finally able to finish his chant and before I can think, a cloud of thick black smoke is coming from Merlin's mouth and goes into the ground surrounded by a circle of fire. I quickly get off Merlin and turn him around. His eyes are closed, but he's breathing- barely, but he is.

"He must be unconscious. We need to take him back to Gaius." Sam nods and helps me up, then Dean picks Merlin up gently.
"Lead the way," he says gruffly. I do, although it takes a lot more energy than normal. When I got up and lunged, it must have been an adrenaline rush because now I am tired enough to collapse. I have to lean on the walls to keep myself upright enough to walk, but soon we are outside his doors. Dean pushes through them and sets Merlin on a cot, but before he does, he notices something that I don't. "Arthur, leave." And then to Sam, who was close behind him, "What are we going to do?"
