Michelle's POV

I stood in my closet trying to choose an outfit. Something suitable for a funfair.....
I ran my hands through the rows of clothes... Aha! Perfect!

I put on the clothes and went downstairs to wait for Kian. After awhile, he came downstairs looking as hot as always in his plain white T-shirt and a pair of ripped jeans.

"Ready?" He held out his hand and I gladly took it. He led me outside and into his car. He put the key into the ignition and pulled out of the parking space.

He was driving when he startled me by handing me a cloth. "Wrap it around you eyes, tightly."

"Why-" i started but he cut me off by saying "Just do it babe. I have a surprise for you." I blushed at the nickname he used but didn't say anything.

"But I hate surprises." I pouted. It's true, I've always hated surprises.

We stopped at a red light and he looked at me, "Please... Do it for me. Believe me you'll love it." He pleaded, looking into my eyes, almost hypnotizing me with those beautiful sparkly brown orbs. I'd be an idiot to resist that.

"Fine, I'll do it." I tied it around my eyes making sure I couldn't see anything. "Kian, what's the surprise I mean we're going to the fair.... Right?" I asked but didn't get an answer.

"Right Kian?" I asked a couple of times more and he still ignored me.
I huffed loudly trying to get his attention. In the end, I gave up.

After a long time, I felt the car halted to a stop. I heard a door opened and closed before the door on my side was opened.

"We're here." Kian announced, taking my hand in his. His hand was very soft yet rough and it fits mine perfectly.

"Where are we? I swear this isn't a carnival." I said, being serious for a second. It was quiet. Very quiet. In fact the only thing I could hear was the sound of birds chirping and leaves crunching underneath our feet as we walk further to the unknown place.

After walking for a few minutes, I hear the sound of gunshots? Soothing gunshots? Wait, they don't even sound like gunshots anymore.

"Kian I swear, if you wanna kill me make it fast. I don't deserve a painful death." I said trying to sound like I was joking.

Kian laughed. "Really Michelle? You thought I was gonna kill you here?"

He started to untie the cloth. "I thought the carnival was too crowded. So I brought you here instead." He said just as he pulled the cloth away revealing a flow of river from the waterfall.

"Wow." Was the first word that came out of my mouth.

"It's really beautiful isn't it." He said.

"Yes." It came out as a whisper because I was completely mesmerized by beauty in front of me to even pay attention.

Somehow, looking at the river gave me peace that I've been craving for. I always go to a creek near my old house when I wanted to be alone. It was the only thing that I look forward to as a motivation to continue my day. I would go there with Sam and just sit there hugging him, listening to the soothing sound of the river flowing. But then, one day dad found out about it and banned us from going there.

Kian's hand on my shoulder brought me back to reality. I looked up at him and saw that he was looking at the trees and the nature surrounding us in awe.

"Kian, why did you bring me here?" I regretted asking that question as soon as it came out, Kian looked sad and I didn't like it. It didn't suit his face.

He sat me down on a bench. Bench? Where did that come from?

"I built this bench a couple of years ago." He stated as if he had heard my question.

"Michelle, I know it hasn't been that long since we met but.. It feels like I've known you for so long. And I just felt the need to share this with you." He stopped for a second and took a deep breath.

"I've never brought anyone else here. It's a special place for me. I always go here to be alone with my thoughts. This place gives me the peace that I need and I hope it has the same affect on you."

"Yes. It does." I said, leaning towards his chest.

"My mom left me and my father after I was born." I was completely shocked when he said that. He took a shaky breath and continued. "I never had the chance to see her. I've never even seen her pictures. My father kept them all away from me. He - he-" he croaked. I can't believe Kian's actually opening up to me. It must be hard for him.

"Kian you don't have to-"
"No, please I want to." He said and I nodded motioning him to continue.

"My father said that it was my fault that she left us and I knew it was right, if she didn't have me, she wouldn't have left. She hated me." A single tear fell from his eyes. "After a few years, I was about 12 years old, my father was getting better, he finally acted like a normal person, soon after that I found out the reason. It was because he had met a woman." Kian clenched his fists to stop the tears. I hugged him.

"Finally, we got along so well, one day, she was - sh- she was driving me to the mall an- and then all of a sudden the car was flipping and I woke up on a hospital bed." He sniffled and more tears spilled out.

"My father blamed me for the accident. He had found his new happiness but I took it away because she - she died."

"Kian, it's okay you have me now. Your father wasn't worth it."

"Don't just say that. Everyone says they won't leave me but in the end, they do. Promise me Michelle, promise me that you won't ever leave me." He chocked.

I rubbed his back and hugged him tighter as if it was the last time I would ever hug him.  He cried harder into my neck and in that moment, I knew. I realized that me and Kian had a lot In common, we both were fragile and we need each other to mend our broken hearts.

"I promise." I whispered those two powerful words, meaning it more than anything.
