"I missed you."
Ukai looked at her, finally saying something, ignoring the fact that she now had a slight cut on her lip.
"How long have you been back? You said you wouldn't be back for another week." She grinned and patted his cheek, slightly harder than expected.
"I have been back for roughly," she looked down to her watch, "an hour. It took a while to walk here, seeing as I have no usable money and I was dragging my luggage." She pointed to a rolling suitcase and two small bags at the school gate. He nodded, then remembered where he was. He looked to his team, which had varying shades of embarrassment on their faces.
"Breaks over, Daichi get them practicing receives. For every missed receive 5 diving drills. Once five receives have been completed, move on to the next person." The still unnamed girl hid behind his body, face completely red now that she had gotten over seeing Ukai for the first time in some while. Daichi nodded in a stupor and pulled up Asahi, Suga getting the rest of the team moving into the gym.
"Take your time, take you time." Suga muttered, assuring he could keep things under control while Ukai was, occupied. Ukai coughed and made sure they were all in the gym before he pulled her towards her bags.
"I can take you to my place after practice, just wait, maybe an hour?" She nodded and picked up one of the smaller bags and started heading back. He caught her arm and pulled her back.
Inside the gym everyone was having fits. Takeda was trying to get everyone calmed down and no one was listening.
"Coach has a girlfriend!"
"She took his cigarette, with no fear."
"What does this even mean?" Everyone was in chaos, trying to talk over each other. Tsukki who had finally calmed down, started snickering. This got everyone's attention and the gym instantly quieted down.
"Did you guys how he kissed her? Or the mark on her mouth? I bet they are sleeping together. I bet they are even off together right now." He stated, making everybody freak out, once again. This time Asahi did pass out and Nishinoya was trying to keep him standing all by himself. Suga turned around, his whole face red now. Kikyo offhandedly gave Tanaka a tissue as his nose started bleeding, making him practically pass out. Hinata asked Kageyama what that meant and earned a punch to the stomach from the setter.
"Either we start receives of all of you can go out there and tell coach you don't think you need to listen to him any more. Interrupting whatever is going on out there." Daichi shouted, pointing to the closed door an irritated look on his face. Suga patted Daichi's arm, trying to calm him down.
"Don't kill them, it's not worth it." Suga pleaded, putting a volleyball in Daichi's hands. "Everybody line up!"
Ukai finally walked back in, the girl following him in, both carrying luggage. She took it and went and sat down on the corner, pulling out her phone. Ukai clapped once, getting everyone's attention, even though they were already staring at him.
"Karasuno, meet Julia. Julia, Kageyama, Hinata, Tanaka, Nishinoya, Asahi, Daichi, Sugawara, Yamaguchi, Tsukishima and Ennoshita." He said, pointing to everybody in turn. She dropped her phone and bowed hastily, surprised when everyone bowed back, except for Tsukki, who couldn't resist a chance to tease anyone.
"Hey coach, what took you so long? The bags can't be that heavy, or did you just get distracted? Maybe with a pretty girl?" He questioned innocently, making Julia flush again. Yawning, she sat down, watching the team practice, who were already hot and sweaty. Leaning against the cold metal pole, she shivered. The sun had gone down long ago and the summer heat was quickly leaving the gym. Noticing Ukai had taken off his coat while he served the boys balls a sly smirk spread across her face like melted butter. While he was distracted (the only one noticing being Tsukishima), she crawled over and grabbed his coat off his pile of things. Crawling back to her spot, she stuck her arms in the sleeves and stifled a giggle as the coat fell long past her arms. Tucking her legs up underneath her, she sighed again, eyelids feeling heavy.
After practice Tsukishima couldn't resist a laugh, buttoning up his blazer and pointing to Julia.
"Coach! Your girlfriend fell asleep." He called as he picked up his school bag and walked out of the gym, Yamaguchi following behind him. Ukai froze, walking out of the supply closet like a nervous mouse.
"She's not my girlfriend." He muttered angrily, walking towards Julia. "Remember team! Training camp tomorrow, be here at 6 sharp!" He called behind him, quieting instantly when Julia shifted uncomfortably. Lifting her up carefully, he carried her to his car, her small rolling suitcase behind him.
