"Eliza hunny, are you ready to go? Ashton and Dylan are already in the car." I stare at my social worker and shrug. I grab my suitcase and walk to the van and hop in. I sit in between Ashton and her twin brother Dylan. "Are you ready Eliza?" Dylan speaks up with a smile on his face. I just shake my head and keep quite.I hear Ashton sigh in defeat. She knows I Wil not talk around anyone but them two.
Around an hour later we pull up at a blue house. I look around and notice the cats walking around. I hop out and rush to pick up a white kitten. "Eliza Rose, what in God's name do you think your doing." Mary yells at me. I walk over to her and shove the little hairball into her face with a smile on my face. She chuckles and hands me My suitcase.
We walk slowly up to the door. I feel my hands shake and grab Ashtons and Dylan's. Mary knocks and a beautiful brunette opens the door. "Ah Mary you made it. Please come in. I would love to see my new additon." We walk in and I notice the plush cream carpet and the pictures of kids lining the walls. "Now introduce me to my children." Of course I hide behind Dylan.
"Well, this one here, with the purple hair, is Ashton." Mary nudges her and Ashton mumbles a little hello abd shakes the woman's hand. "Here is Dylan, Ashtons twin brother." Dylan smiles and shake the lady's hand as well. "Mary dear, I thought there were three?" Mary let's out a little laugh. "Of course there is, Dylan move aside." I groan inwardly and Dylan leaves me exposed. "This here is Eliza Rose." I shake her hand quickly and move back.
°°°°"Alright Eliza Rose, here's your room." I nod and smile at Martha as I walk into the little room. The walls were cream and the floor was wood. I made my way to the dresser ad started putting my clothes away. It took me about an hour to finish. I sat on my bed and scrolled through Instagram. I started to doze up but snapped awake when I heard footsteps walking into my room. Ashton enter my room smiling. "Hey Eliza, how you doing?" I had to clear my throat and make weird noises before I could speak.
"I-I'm doing o-okay. How a-re Ash?" My words came out in little rasp and stutters. Ash shot me a sympathetic smile and sat on my bed. "I'm doing fine Ellie. Dinner is in five minutes. We meet the rest of the kids and I want you to walk with me." I smile at her offer and grab her hand. "Well, l-let's g-g-go."
I sat beside Ashton and Dylan. We had arrived at the table first and there were 6 different chairs. I began to worry as they filled. Finally after a little wait Martha out caregiver walked in and sat at the head of the table. "Okay guys, as we discussed we have a new addition to our home. I would like us to introduce ourselves. Okay, Lizze why don't you start." A little blond girl spoke up. "Hi, I'm Lizze and I turn six in two days." I smiled at her and looked at the next person. He was a red head and he looked uncomfortable. "I'm Chris, I'm 17." He nods to the girl beside him. "Um hi, I'm Kacie, I'm 14." The first thing I noticed about her was her eyes, they were a light sea green. The next kid was Isaac and he was 12 and then it was a girl named Lilly and she was 16.
Finally it was our turn. Dylan smiled at the people. "Hi you guys, I'm Dylan and I'm 17." Everyone said a cheerful hello. Ashton spoke up before me. "Hello. I'm Ashton I'm 17 and also this dorks twin sister." Everyone laughed at her comment and then all eyes were on me. I opened my mouth but no words came out. My throat felt like It was closing up. I gripped Ashton's hand under the table Abd thankfully she spoke for me. "This you guys is my best friend Eliza Rose, she 16." I shot her a thankful look and dug into my food.
