Chapter 2 - The library

I sat at the library table with my partner, Garroth. For our first English assignment, we needed a partner. I sighed and looked at my stack of books. I grabbed a hold of the top one, so did he. He blushed and pulled away.

"I'm...I'm sorry," he apologized. I held the book and looked at him, he was kind of cute. I looked at the book and then him, I slid the book onto the table. He looked at the book and then me, I nodded to the book, he stopped blushing. He took the book, I smiled when he looked up. He opened the book and began reading. I looked back at the stack of the books.

"Which one should I read?" I ask him, he stopped reading.

"Oh... Uh..." he said, scratching his head.

"You should read Masters Rival VOL 3 if you are doing the English assignment" a voice said behind me. I turned my head, spooked I was.

"Hey Emmalyn," Garroth said.

"Hi Garroth, may I ask, who is this?" the blonde asked.

"Oh! Th-This is Aphmau, she's n-new," he said stuttering. I looked at the blonde, I shook her hand and smiled.

"Aphmau, what an int-" she stopped when a boy called from across the library. She turned around, then back at me.

"I have to go, I'll see you later Garroth and Aphmau!" she said winking. My eyes widened, I hoped she didn't think we were dating. I looked at the book stack and looked for the book she asked for. I didn't see it. I got up out of my seat, I looked at Garroth, he looked at me.

"I'm going to go get another book, be back in a bit," I told him walking away.

"Oh, okay," he said. I walked away from the table and into the valley of bookshelves. I dug in between to many I couldn't count. I finally gave up and started to walk to the front desk. I was suddenly grabbed by someone when I was walking. I started to scream, but they covered my mouth. They suddenly stopped pulling me, but they still held onto me. I grabbed their hand and threw it off my mouth. I turned and looked at them, she had orange hair and bright red eyes, she must be wearing contacts.

I looked at her, she looked at me.

"What do you want?" I whispered to her. She leaned on a book shelf.

"So... You have Garroth under your spell," she said giggling. My eyes widened.

"No! I don't!"

"Calm down, I was only joking. You have many guys under you spell," she started laughing.

"Listen, I don't know who you are, but I need to get going," I said as I started walking away.

"Your name's Aphmau, the new girl," she said, I stopped walking. I turned around.

"How do you know?" I asked her.

"I have sources, many, ton's of them," she replied looking at her nails.

"Tell me one," I demanded her.

"Choose a number, one, two, three, or four."

"Four," I replied angry.

"Travis. The others were Laurance, Garroth, and Dante," she replied to me. I relaxed and sighed.

"Well, I should be going, miss?" I said questioning.

"Lucinda, my name is Lucinda," she replied.

"Well, okay then, goodbye Lucinda," I said walking away.

"See ya next period!" she yelled, I turned around, she was gone. I sighed and walked to the front desk. I asked the lady if she knew where the book I was looking for was.

"A boy just came up here and checked it out, sorry."

"What was his name?" I asked her.

"Garroth-" she was going to continue but I ran back to the table. I rushed through the valley of book shelves, past other people, and some people I barely knew. I stopped when I was near mine and Garroth's table, he was reading that book.

I walked over to my seat and sat down. I was waiting until he noticed. He closed the book and looked at me.

"I'm sorry Aphmau, you were just taking a little longer than I expected so I went to go get the book myself," he said apologizing.

"It's okay Garroth," I said as I got up out of my seat. I pulled out a chair and put it next to Garroth, he opened the book again. I sat in the chair next to him, listening to him read. I rested my head on his shoulder, from then on he read out the story.
