The Guardians of Earth: Age of the Dragon Lord

Chapter 1

"Alright I had enough of this!", I yell out. "Can you please explain why we're doing this again?!"

"You know perfectly well why we're doing this Brianna", said Riyu.

Sometimes I just don't get her. She may be the oldest but why does she have to answer every question with a fucking lecture.  Damn it. One day I'll do it to her to show her exactly how it feels.

"You always ask the same fucking question", said Athena. "It can't be help when you're not human."

"I suppose you're right", I sigh in defeat.

I shouldn't be arguing about this anyway. It's true that we're not human but having to move from village to village and city to city is pretty annoying. And what sucks the most is that no one knows about us. Our group is called the Guardians of Earth but that's only if you know about our true job. We coexist with humans to protect them. Though we haven't been around as long humans have.

Our group consist of six people, me aka Brianna, Riyu, Athena, Chiyo, Crystal, and Snow. Riyu Akarui is the oldest in our group with snow white hair and purple eyes. She's known for being the wisest and giving out lectures when needed. When she needs to she can kick butt. Riyu is a pureblooded demon fox and is Japanese. There's not much I can say about what her abilities are as well with the others. Chiyo Nakamura is the second oldest with hair as white as snow and yellow eyes. She's shy and mostly quiet but once brought out of her shell she can be the most loudest person in the world. She's a pureblooded demon fox and is Japanese. Crystal and Snow Narumi both have snow white hair and green eyes. They both have similar features and look like they're twins but they're not. Their parents are twins who fell in love with each other and got married. Who knew that cousins can look so much alike. Crystal is older than Snow and is very protected of her. Do anything bad to Snow and she won't hesitate to hurt you. She's usually kind when you don't bring out her bad side. As for Snow she's always following Crystal around. She's clumsy and is oblivious to some things. Snow sometimes gets jealous over little things. They're both part demon fox part vampire and are Japanese. Athena Hijimorrow Sora is the second youngest with white hair that turns pink midway and blue eyes. She's outgoing and fun but can turn serious when needed. Athena will look for anyone to fight when pissed out. I suggest not to make anyone in the group anger. Her mother is a vampire and Japanese while her father is a demon fox and British making her a hybrid of the two and half Japanese half British. I'm Brianna Crimson, the youngest of the group and I have snow white hair and sparking blue eyes. I prefer to be nice to allies and mean to enemies. Make me mad and you'll find yourself in a situation worst than death. My mother is a demon fox and Japanese while my father is half human half dragon and Norse. A little known fact, we're all part of the same family.

Shaking my head to clear any thoughts of the argument we just had I pull on the straps to signal for Majesty to go faster. The others follow in suite knowing if I continue going at this pace I'll leave them in the dust. After an hours' worth of horseback riding, breaks, and minor disagreements here and there we finally reached our destination. The capital city in which the king has invited us to the palace. As we pull up to the city there is a Knight waiting at the entrance.

"Ah, you must be the Knights that the king has summon", said the Knight. "I am Royal Knight Chase Hollow. Follow me, I'll lead you to the castle."

Entering the city we see just how different it is from the villages we've been to. Kids are running around and stealing what ever they can to survive. Women are out on the streets smoking and looking for any rich guys to go after. Men are walking around drunk. And there are little to none guards on standby. I get off of Majesty and signal for her to stay close behind me. The others have looks of curiosity on their faces at my strange behavior. I pay them no mind as I decide to test a theory of mine. Sure enough after a few feet of walking one of those children ran into me and tried to pickpocket me. I caught her hand much to her surprise.

"Now what do you think you're doing.", I state with seriousness in my voice.

"I wasn't doing anything lady!", the little girl shouted with nervousness.

"Oh really now", I said. "Cause it look like you were about to pickpocket me."

The little girl figuring out that she has been caught red handed admits her wrongdoing. "Alright ya caught me.", she said.

"You know," I say with full intent of giving her a lecture, "you really should stop this. A young lady like yourself shouldn't be doing such petty thievery."

"What do you know anyway?", said the little girl. "I'm an orphan and have to go by any means to survive."

Athena is closing in on where we are and looks like she is about to speak but I raise a stopping her while mentally saying 'Stop right there, I can handle this by myself.' Showing that she understood what I meant Athena stops in her tracks to let me continue dealing with the situation. "If you want to earn some money then work out in the fields on the outskirts of town."

"But no one is going to hire a mere child to work for them," she said in a matter of fact tone.

I don't think she knows what I'm hinting at. Sighing I say, "That's not what I mean." Honestly, this girl has to be that dense to not know what I mean. "Stop pickpocketing people before I personally throw you in jail myself."

It may seem harsh to say that to a child but it's for her own good. If she continues doing what she's doing she will surely end up in jail. Finally realizing what I mean the little girl stares wide eyed at me before running away.

"Why must you act so coldly when you want people to realize something?", asked Athena.

"Everyone has to learn the hard way", I said. "But you know I would totally beat the crap out of you if you ever try something like that, right?"

"Yay, yay"

"Sorry about that", I scratch the back of my head as I apologize. "I usually get that way when I see children do acts of crime."

Chase gives a nod and an understanding smile. Not wanting to waste anymore time we continue on our path to the palace. As we get closer we see just how gigantic it is. A beautiful garden made solely of roses and chrysanthemums with a water fountain surrounds a white with gold trims castle. Chase enters through the front gate and we follow in suite. He leads us to a small buildings where the horses are kept. We each get off our horses and put them each inside their own pen. After making sure they can't escape we follow Chase into the castle and head to the thrown room. Sitting on a mahogany chair with red cushions is a fair looking man that looks no older than 30 with brown hair and green eyes. I can infer that that man is the King because on the crown sitting on top of his head.

"You must be the White Knights of the realm", said the King. "I am King Reagan the 12th and I am please to meet your acquaintance"

Riyu takes the liberty to answer for all of us,"No the pleasure is all ours."

Suddenly the King's face gets serious as he saids,"As you know there have been dragon attacks throughout the kingdom."

"And you called us here to deal with them.", said Crystal.

"Precisely and as the Knights of the realm I know you will do a great job", said the King. "Plus I'll even pay you."

"We'll take on the task but we don't need the money", I said.

"Are you sure?"

"Positive"
