The Guardians of Earth: Age of the Dragon Lord

Chapter 2

After our conversation with the king another Knight is summon to take us to our rooms. We're only occupying 5 rooms even though it should be 6 but Crystal and Snow wanted to share a room. For cousins they sure act like sisters. Though we're all part of the same family none of us are as close as they are. But I understand why as I'm close with my older brother and sister, just not on the same level as they are. Just after we head into our own rooms I take off my armor and I'm left in my regular outfit. I would change into sleepwear but I didn't bring any with me. We usually move from place to place, not having a home to call our own. And we buy what's necessary for our journey but it looks like we're going to have to buy more clothes. Though I think I'll get some sleep right now.

~~~The next day~~~

*Knock**Knock*"Brianna get your butt out of bed and get ready!", I hear Athena shout from the other side of the door.

I pull the covers off of my head and get up to look out the window. The sun is barely up and few people are outside. Knowing that this girl is still waiting outside my room I rip open the door and jump to kick her in the side of the face.

"DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT TIME IT IS!?!?!", my voice shouts throughout the castle as Athena rubs her now sore face.

"Brianna lower your voice, you know that we're not the only ones here", I hear Riyu say as she comes out of her room along with Chiyo, Crystal, and Snow.

"But didn't you see what that lady did to me", I said while pointing at a certain person. "All I wanted to do was sleep but no Athena had to wake me the fuck up."

"It doesn't matter anyway as we have a job to do" I pout but make no further arguments as I get ready for the day.

After breakfast which was awkwardly quiet we all meet in the throne room. A strategy is needed in order to plan out our moves. From what I know these dragon attacks aren't done at random. Those of high ranking or who are in the legal system by which I mean those who help to make laws or decisions in the kingdom are being targeted. Besides all of this this isn't the normal behavior of a dragon. Dragons are known to isolate themselves from humanity and only attack when threaten.

"We're going to need a strategy to figure out what to do.", said Crystal as if she read my mind.

"I have my head strategist here with me today", said the King. "He can come up with any successful plan."

A young man walks into the throne room. He has straight light blonde hair and rounds glasses covering brown eyes. He's 6ft 5in with soft features but seems to be well built.

"Hello I'm Ryan Patterson and I'll be working with you.", said Ryan.

"There will be no need for that", I suddenly say.

Everyone looks at me and saids,"How come?"

"I already have a strategy plan and you know how the dragons are attacking high ranking officials and legal system members?", I pause for a moment to see if they're following along before continuing,"Well this isn't the normal behavior of a dragon. Dragons usually prefer to keep their distance from humans and only attack them when threaten."

"What does that have to do with anything?", asks the King.

"What I mean is that someone is controlling the dragons", I state. "They're trying to bring down the country's power by going after those who have some sort of connection or help to rule the country."

"So let me guess your plan is for us to guard the capital and the remaining high ranking officials.", said Athena.

"Exactly"

"But what are you going to do?", asks Riyu.

"I'm going to trace the dragon attacks to the source", I said. "But for now I'll be studying the attack patterns and stuff like that."

"Are we sure we can let her go by herself because I mean she's only person.", said the King with a worry voice.

"No need to worry about her", said Snow. "Brianna can handle any dragon that gets in her way. Not only that but every dragon out there respects her."

"More like some of them fear her", I hear Athena murmur under her breath.

"If I may ask, how does a dragon respect a human that isn't as mighty as themselves?", asks Ryan.

"Dragons have tried to kill me before", I state as if it were no big deal. "They've tried to burn me, freeze me, and a bunch of other types have gone after me. Though none have succeeded so far in killing me."

"And you aren't scared?!", the king has a shock look on his face after hearing that.

"Not at all", I say with a straight face. "Only dragon classes of lvl10 to lvl20 are going after me. Even if the higher ones start to go after me I'll be able to handle them."

"We're getting off topic guys", said Riyu. "This a strategy meeting not storytelling time."

We all nod at her words knowing if we don't follow them Riyu would start up another lecture.

"Fine lets get back to work.", I say with pout as my story was interrupted. "There are four people left who need to be targeted before the country is render useless, the head general, Prime Minister, Ambassador, and the King himself. I want each of you to follow them around at a safe distance."

"Wait!", shouts out the King. "I understand why the others are getting targeted but why me?!"

"If you didn't know, if a country's King goes down then the whole country goes down with him", I said. "Basically a nation relies on their leader to make the laws and decisions that would lead the country down the right path. Take the King away and the whole country loses the power to do anything."

"Only when your serious do you make sense", said Athena.

"Shut up or do you want me to kick you in the face again!", I shout at her angrily. "Besides you'll never be able to create plans that work like mine's do."

"She does have a point there", said Crystal.

"And I thought you were on my side." Athena puts her hand on her chest and acts like those words sung her heart.

"Stop being so dramatic." I push her to floor as she glares at me. "I'll let you guys decide what post you want to take as I head out."

As I start to leave the room Athena jumps on top of me and prevents me
from moving forward.

"No don't go!", she whines out. "I don't want to be stuck watching some geezer, at least take me with you!"

I push her to the ground once again before saying,"Sorry but this is a task that I alone can tackle."

I then run out of the room before I can be delayed even further than I already have been.
