A/N: So I know I haven't been following the season plot line and I just wanted to let you know we're about to get even more AU. We're changing stuff up!
On the day that Malia's life changed completely, she felt dizzy. The world was tilting and she couldn't imagine what the hell she was supposed to do next. Walking to answer the door felt like the greatest accomplishment in the world. All she could do was replay the morning's events over and over in her head.
Kira stood at her door, her face tear streaked, her eyes holding back more unshed tears. "Malia," she started but she broke off, covering her mouth. "Theo tried to kill Scott."
Malia felt as if she would collapse, knew that she should have collapsed, that it made no sense that she was still standing but yet she was. The world was spinning even more than it had been before. This second piece of news was something that she should have been prepared for, should have been waiting for. She should have known. She should have known.
She shut her eyes and put every emotional wall that she had ever possessed. She would not let him hurt her. Besides, he was just sex, just... Just practice... She hung her head just slightly and let out a breath. That wasn't true and she knew it and that feeling was the worst in the world.
Finally, as the last wall shakily went up, she looked at Kira, bringing her hand to her arm and leading her in the house. "Is Scott okay?"
Kira slowly nodded. "He's healing... But really slowly.... It's not good, Malia..."
Malia let out a breath. "Why didn't Theo kill him?"
Kira shook her head. "Scott said that he just left. Just.. walked away. We think that he thought he killed him." She was quiet before whispering, "I'm so sorry, Malia." her voice broke.
Malia looked at her and shook her head. "It's my fault for trusting him. I knew better, I..." but she couldn't finish the sentence, didn't have the words. Finally, she looked at Kira. "Let's go to Scott." She led the other girl out of the house, shutting and locking the door behind her, as if she could lock her earlier piece of news, her horrifying secret, in there too.

Scott was weak, which was probably the scariest thing Malia had seen in a long time. She didn't think she'd ever seen her alpha weak before. Theo did this. The words echoed in her head.
She felt as if she might be sick but held back the feeling. Lydia rested a hand on her shoulder and when she looked at her, she found concern in the other girl's eyes. "Are you okay?" Lydia asked gently.
"Of course." Malia tried for a nonchalant shrug. "It doesn't matter. He's just a..." She trailed off, unsure of what to say at the end of that sentence. She thought of the words she had once associated with him: friend, lover, ally, confidant... "Just a liar," she said, softer and quieter than she had meant to.
"Malia," Lydia whispered. "It's okay to be upset. It's okay."
"I'm not." Malia looked at her. "This isn't about me. It's about Scott and it's about defeating the Dread Doctors and destroying Theo." She hesitated before adding, "Besides. I think that would make it worse. Bottling things up is my only option right now."
Lydia bit her lip. "Malia... Bottling things up never works..."
"Trust me," Malia replied. "Right now it's the only option that won't make me lose my mind." She help Lydia's gaze, trying to relay all of the determination that she felt, that she could always rely on. Lydia gave her a small nod.
