Lyrics POV
I woke up to the smell of food cooking from downstairs. It's Saturday, so it is my mother's day home from work. I went downstairs and found my mom making breakfast.
"Good morning, Mum!" I said, rubbing the sleepiness from my eyes.
"Good morning, love." She turns away from the stove and kisses my forehead.
I take a few bites from my breakfast before speaking. "Hey, Mum? Is it okay if I go on a walk with Gracelynn today?" Gracelynn has been my best friend for a long time now.
She took a drink out of her cup and nodded. "Of course! But promise me that you will stay out of the woods." She stared at me, waiting for an answer.
"Mum, those creatures are not real! They are just stories." I said, rolling my eyes.
"They are more real than you think." She said as she walked out of the kitchen.

After I picked Gracelynn up from her house, we started walking along the edge of town. We were talking about the latest gossip when Gracelynn stopped walking.
"What's wrong?" I asked, walking back to her.
We were right in front of the opening to the woods. There was only two opening because the town has brick walls and fences around the edges. The other opening is used to get in and out of town.
"Why did you stop?" I asked.
"Nothing I just thought that I saw something."
"Oh, come on, Grace! I thought that you didn't believe in the stories?"
"I-I don't. It was probably just a rabbit or something." She said, continuing to stare.
"Well than I guess you won't mind if we go check it out then?" I said.
"No! We can't go in there!" She exclaimed, very on edge.
"Why not?" I asked.
"Umm..Uh...because...we would get in trouble!"
I rolled my eyes. "Nobody's going to find out! But if you won't come with me, then I'll just go myself." I started walking towards the opening.
"But....uggh! Fine!" Grace ran after me.
We walked over the rope that said:
WARNING.
We started walking down the trail. It was around noon, so it won't get dark while we're out here.
After about 5 minutes of walking down the trail, Gracelyn stopped.
"Lyric, I think we should turn back now."
"Oh, don't be such a baby. If something was going to come and attack us, don't you think that they would do it already?" I said.
At that moment, something moved.
I whipped around, looking in the general direction of where the sound came from. Nothing.
Another sound came from the exact opposite direction.
"Grace, you can stop messing with me now." I said.
"I-I didn't do anything." She said, her voice shaking.
Next, there was a loud thud. I turned around to try to find where the sound was coming from. Next, I heard the sound of Gracelyn screaming.
She was pinned against a tree by a man. She was choking from the force of the man's hand on her neck.
I ran towards the man, trying to push him off of Grace. He threw me back about 10 feet.
I laid there, trying to collect my thoughts, when I was grabbed by my hair and was lifted. I screamed in agony from the pain.
"Looks like we have a couple of screamers." The man, who had a fist full of my hair, said to the other. The man released my hair and grabbed me by my neck. His red eyes stared straight into mine, pulling me in, just like a magnet. "A couple of good looking screamers at that." The man put his mouth to my neck. I felt a sharp pain, then everything went black.
