"Noooooo! Let's play another round!" I beg. My dad shakes his head rolling his eyes. My sister sleepily agrees with me.

My mom is the most excited, "yeah! Do you think my grandmother gave up cause it's eleven o'clock? No. She kept on playing!" It bothers me how my mom always has to have something to say. I inwardly roll my eyes at her. But outwardly I high five her and start gathering the cards to deal.

"It's three against one, sorry dad!" I say.

"You're all crazy," he says and sips at his beer.

I shuffle and give him the cards the cut. We're playing a game called Fool. 'An ancient Russian card game,' my mother likes to say. She always tries to bring out all of her Russian aspects and make everything related to her Russian heritage. It's ridiculous. Have you seen the movie 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding'? Well she's like the dad. It's a little embarassing.

The object of the game is to get rid of your cards. There are four people per game. You teammate is the person across from you, never the person next to you. The game starts with six cards per person. After dealing out six cards to each person (face down), take the top card and place it face up. The suit of that card is the trump suit. Then place the rest of the cards horizontally over the trump indicator. The first person to go is the person left of the dealer. That person would go to their left and give the player a card. Say the card was a 5 of diamonds the player that the card was shown to would have to cover it with a 6 of diamonds or higher If they player had no diamonds higher the 5 they may put down a trump card. Say the trump was spades, any spade could cover the 5. You can put down a maximum of 6 cards (OR however many cards the player has if it's less then 6) for the player to cover. After you put down all the cards you can (or 6) the attacker refills first from the pile of cards so that they have 6 cards then the attackers partner the defendant.

The game goes on. I'm not very good at counting cards so I can't make very good choices at attacking but I'm a very good defender.

My mom is a much better attacker then defender so we make a good team.

After the game my dad shuffles us all into bed. Of course I dilly dally and get in much later then he wants.

As I lie in the slightly uncomfortable bottom bunk bed I plan tomorrow. We are on vacation. We're staying in a cabin on a Lake for two weeks. It's really nice but there's no hot water unless we walk up to the motels to take a shower.

I fall asleep but I'm conscious.

...

I saw this somewhere.

Where you know where you are and what your doing but your dreaming and none of it is real.

I'm with my sister. And we're in a store.

"Candy! Look!" my sister shouts, "a door!"

My name is Catherine but people call me Candy.

"Silly goose! Of course there's a door," I giggle at her.

"No, no, look, it wasn't there before!"

Why not check it out, what's the worst that can happen? It's just a dream anyway.

We walk through and all of a sudden we're in my high school. I step foward and turn to the left looking down the hallway. A girl that looks like my friend Sara in her color guard costume is walking towards us.

"Candy, isn't this your high school?" my sister askes. She's going to 7th grade next year and always wanted to come here but never actually did.

I nod.

I change my mind and start walking to the right. Rose follows me.

But I'm not paying much attention like I should be.

I'm walking through a cafeteria area and notice that the place is deserted except for a beaver.

A beaver?

I spot an elevator, was that always there? I don't remember an elevator in the school.

Well might as well try it out, it's a dream, what could go wrong?

I press the button and step on. It starts moving towards the first floor.

Just when the doors close I realize my sister isn't with me.

I start banging on the door of the elevator.

"Rose! Rose!" I crumple to the floor and suddenly feel a jolt of the elevator stopping.

I run out and look around. I'm in the Gym area and I run towards the girls changing room.

"Candy!" I hear my sister calling my name. I'm so desperate I forget it's just a dream and I loose it.

"ROSE!" I'm running towards where my sisters voice is coming from.

They turn the corner and...they?

A boy is holding my sisters hand. He doesn't look older then sixteen.

I run to my sister, forgetting the boy and hug her tightly.

"Rosie, oh, I was so scared."

"But Candy, it's just a dream," she smiles.

"I know but...it's my dream, how do you know?"

"He told me," she points at the boy, who is now walking away.

I run towards him and he turns around.

I step up on tip toes and hug him.

"Thank you so much," I say.

Suddenly, he lifts me up like I weigh no more then Rosie does. It's like in dance class when my teacher lifts me to show me how I'm supposed to jump.

I wrap my legs around his hips hanging on for dear, sweet, life when I notice his features more clearly. His eyes are a dark deep brown. He has dark features and bright pink lips. His head is sporting a buzz cut and he looks so attractive I just want my sister leave and let him have his way with me.

Just at that moment I-

-wake up.
