sooo, I have no idea where I am going with this story, it's supposed to be like a combination of different au shit so lets hope I can pull off generic highschool au haha. (also im sorry this is so mediocre and the characters are so ugh but like, i don't really know anything about Chris or Pj please don't kill me)
Dan
Dan was almost 100% positive in that he only had him in one class. He guessed the boy switched but he had no idea why. Just then, their english teacher decided to pull a last minute project on them, which would require them working in partners. Dan dreaded partners. Even when they understood the subject matter they just couldn't seem to understand his ideas. An english project sounds awful right now, or any time Dan thought as half the people slouched in their seats and groaned in displeasure at the teacher's awful timing.
Of course they wouldn't be able to pick their partners, of course. Dan was left with a sour taste in his mouth as the teacher told his unwilling classmates as well as himself about the dreaded project. and obviously he would be partnered with the doormat himself, Phil. and just of course they would have to do it their spare time. Great. Just splendid. He knew he'd have an amazing time with this idiot who was likely clueless in the way of literature.
Phil
English wasn't something Phil was particularly good at. He wasn't particularly bad at it, either. But that was just the definition of his life. Not excelling in anything, just a mediocre person. He was always told his personality made up for it, but who would actually believe that?
He really needed to stop with this negative stuff. He had no idea what was going through him but he had become so gloomy recently. He decided that he could save all that for later, as his teacher sent them off to 'mingle' with their partners. He walked up to the very pleasant looking Dan, who was scowling and looking off into the distance.
"Um, Hey? You alright, uh.. Dan?" Phil spoke, but the further he got, the more he trailed off. "Yeah, Sure. Why am I always stuck with the outcasts.." Dan mumbled. "Oh. Well, I would've assumed this was fate, but you seem like just the type of sunshine to believe in that." Phil snapped, not amused with Dan's hurtful comment. Yes, being called an outcast wouldn't be that bad, it's just the way Dan said it made it sound disgraceful. Dan smirked. "Rubbing off on you already, am I?" He replied, obviously amused. "That's not possible, seeing as we've hardly met. Anyway, how are we gonna do this project because I don't know about you, but I'd like to not fail this class." Phil finally spoke up, only slightly acknowledging Dan's snarky and amused comment. "Ugh, calm down Miss Perfect, this project won't make or break you. Besides, you would know where I live, considering you were watching me the other day on what was presumably your way home. You looked intrigued." Dan was still smirking as if he knew everything in the world, and it made Phil uneasy."I-uh, I was just going to ask about when we would see each other to do the project. You know, like, when you're free?" Phil answered, obviously feeling defensive as his uneasiness was bleeding into his voice. "Give me your arm." Dan ordered, taking out a pen,"Text me whenever, but don't blow up my phone, babe." He had a look of pride and this cheeky smile on his face, using the nickname only to bring a reaction out of Phil. Dan then proceeded to write his number on Phil's arm. "Uh, yeah, okay, I'll text you sometime." Phil said, ready to walk away from the weird moment. "You're just too easy, Phil." Dan mumbled barely loud enough to be audible.
Phil walked away as quick as he could, because he was just confused. What was Dan doing? Why was he so weird? Does he hate Phil? Phil was getting such mixed signals and he had no idea what to make of it.
Phil had work this afternoon, so he walked quickly from school to the cafe. He quickly changed into a better shirt and got his stuff together, as he was a waiter.
The evening was always decently slow, but a little later into the night two boys came into the cafe and they seemed to go to the same school as Phil. One of them was very handsome and had nice eyes, and the other looked rather generic, but they seemed like happy people. Phil approached their booth with a small smile on his face. "Hey, How are you guys? I'm Phil and I'll be your waiter." He said calmly. "Oh, hey. I'm Pj and I'll be your customer." One boy replied with a silly smile. "Yeah, and I'm Chris." The other boy said looking confused at Pj. "So, uhm, what do you want? to order, I mean." Phil asked awkwardly, currently hating his job. "Uh, two hot chocolates." Pj said looking to Chris to confirm. "Okay, that'll be ready soon." Phil said, walking away. "Wait." Chris said. "Uh, Yes?" Phil turned around. "Don't we go to the same school? You're the new kid, right? Everybody was talking about you." Chris asked. "Y'know now that you mention it, Phil does sound familiar.." Pj trailed off. "Yeah, I do go to the same school as you, and yes I'm the new one. But I wasn't aware everyone was talking about me..." Phil answered, walking off to get their hot chocolate that was almost ready.
Other than those two boys nothing really of interest happened. Phil stayed a little longer than his shift to serve a few more people, then started walking back to his home. He saw Dan yet again, but this time Dan was looking directly at him, even acknowledged him.
"I thought you were never gonna come home, but I guess you just stayed late at work, huh?" Dan asked. "Uh, yes, I did. There was this lovely couple who wanted hot chocolate and I didn't want them to have to wait for the waiter on the night shift. He's not very nice, I'm surprised he still works there." Phil responded, looking to the ground, beginning to walk past his house. "Leaving already? Not even going to chat? How bad mannered of you." He smirked. He got me. "Fine, I'll chat a bit, but I really should be home soon as it isn't the earliest hour of the night and I'm not exactly the most energized right now." Phil gave in.
And that's how Phil ended up on Dan's porch for half an hour on that cold night.
Okay what just happened. Is this a better way to write chapters? h elp.
