Shells fall on the beach,
As the allies partake in the history's largest breach.Landing craft pierce the roaring waves.
Many knew they were on their way to their graves. The landing craft doors drop.
At once, hearts began to stop.
Machine guns rattle,
As men were slaughtered like cattle. For those who made it to land,
sand clogged the M1 Garand.
Bullets pierced the sky.
Many died without a cry.The fighting did not cease,
There was no hour of peace.
They prayed for the wars end.
But most wondered who would God send. The allies never did retreat,
Until the day of Germany's defeat.
Husbands and sons became ghosts of the past.
However their legacy will always last.
