Like many games Terraria envolves mobs spawning in your world. There are many mobs in hardmode and pre-hardmode (majority of which are in hardmode). There are:
Zombies: Green humanoid things
Demon Eyes: Flying eyes
Hornets: Giant Bee's
Slimes: Jelly like mobs (there are many kinds)
Jungle Bats: Bats that are from the Jungle
Demons: A flying creature in hell
Fire Bats: Bats from hell
Voodoo Demons: Demons with a voodoo doll
Armored Skeleton: Skeletons with armour
Skeleton: Bones shaped like a human
and a lot more. Generally the names are labelled either above or below. There are also mobs such as 'The Groom' or 'Doctor Bones' who are rare and will give you a drop if killed.
