Quick insert: Hello and good day! So it has been roughly three years since I last posted a chapter to any of my books and I have decided to pick it up again. Not sure why I stopped really, I think I just became engrossed in my artwork again and reading others' novels rather than writing my own. I still have a rough idea of where I wanted this story to go so I want to continue. I decided to change the narrative from first to third person because I found it easier for me to write from so here ya go. I'll try posting more often, but if I don't, at least expect one update per month. This is just for anyone who actually reads this story :) It's unedited and I just write for the pure joy of writing and sharing my work. Who knows, maybe I'll draw the characters I envision and post it here?

Thus, let the story begin:

Cherice made her way down the rickety stairs in the building complex her family currently lived in. They would have to move soon since according to her sister, Nemesis, as the gang called themselves, was making their way to their part of town. Expanding their territory, as if, in reality, they were looking for her. Cherice just knew it, ever since she had killed five of their gang members in a fight over medicine and a bag of ammo they had been after her head. That and the fact that heavenly and fallen angels alike had placed a bounty out for her. Yeah, her life was just peachy.
Cherice pushed her way through the worn wooden doors and into the sunlight. It was about midday as she walked down the road in between the dilapidated buildings. Her family was running low on food and her "master" had just sent her a message informing her of an Angel and Reaper nearby. Cherice hastened her pace as she approached a rundown blue building. The targets were supposed to be inside the building. She pulled her black back pack from behind her and brought out six throwing stars. They were old, back from her dad's army days. He had bought them from some vendor in Japan for a cheap amount of money he said. They still looked like new with razor sharp edges coated in silver and blue spirals intricately spidering around both sides of the star. They were her favorite weapon besides the whips that she wore around her left arm. The stars were also the most effective. Silently, she attached three throwing stars to each arm. The snake on the right arm glowed as the stars latched on to arm and she repeated the process on the left arm. The whips tattooed on her arm glowed an electric violet-blue as the unwound themselves, wrapped around the stars to hold them in place, and returned to their original place. The process took all of five-seconds which was really convenient since she was on a time crunch.
Cherice surveyed the building to see if there was an opening besides the front entrance. Wouldn't want to make a grand entrance only to have her ass handed back to her. The search lead her to the side of the building were a fire escape was. Perfect, she thought crouching down as she prepared to jump. It was about twenty feet up in the air but it wasn't anything her enhanced skills couldn't handle. One, two, three, she pushed off using her legs and extended her hands out for balance. She jumped over the landing and slowly descended, shifting her weight to quite the fall. After making sure no one had heard her, she took the stairs two at a time before stopping at a broken window which was over a ledge inside the building. Slowly, she let herself in and carefully maneuvered an empty box out of the way.
"You lost it? How could you lose it?" An angry voice boomed through the building.
"I didn't necessarily lose it, I...misplaced it?" A timid voice said.
"Wait till you see where I misplace my foot! I gave you that serum because I trusted your power. Now you go and lose the damn thing? Can't anyone do anything right? First that renegade reaper running a muck and now this? I can't believe have to deal with this."
Cherice felt a burn begin its way up her arm. She looked down and saw the tattoo glowing a bright blue. I guess I found my targets. The first voice obviously is the angel, the second must be the reaper. What's this serum they're talking about? Eh, not the problem right now.
Slowly, she began to make her way over the ledge. This was going to be an easy taken down if they were fighting, she thought. Placing one foot on the railing, Cherice shifted her body weight forward and slowly brought her other foot up onto the railing so she was perched on top, watching the Reaper and angel continue their discussion.
The Angel let out an exasperated sigh. "Alright, where exactly did you lose it?"
"Well, you see, funny thing that you mentioned that renegade reaper..." the Reaper let out nervously looking side to side.
"You lost it to the renegade?!" Exploded the Angel, his voice boomed out and the rafters above Cherice's head shook in response, as if they too were quaking in fear at the power behind the voice.
"It was an ambush! He was working with over Reapers and they attacked my team! I did what I could, at least he didn't get his hands on it."
"Oh really, so what did you do with the serum if you didn't hand it over to him?"
"I gave it to Saphrina," he said timidly, as if giving it to Saphrina was just as bad handing the serum or whatever over to the renegade. Cherice tilted her head to a side a bit as she listened to the conversation, thoroughly entertained by what was happening even though she did not understand the conversation all that well. She did know that the serum the angel was getting upset about must be vitally important to him though, whether for the war or himself, she didn't fully know yet. The Angel grabbed the bridge of his nose, if Cherice hadn't known any better, she would have thought that the whole conversation was giving him a headache.
"You are telling me that you gave the serum. To. A. Nymph?" The Angel let out through clenched teeth.
"She's not a nymph. but basically, yeah," the Reaper managed to squeak out before the Angel sucker punched him in the stomach and sent the Reaper flying into a column, shaking the entire building. Cherice rapidly tried to tighten her hold and correct her balance on the railing before she toppled over.
The Reaper groaned as he tried to pick himself up and away from the column. He clutched his stomach as he tried to take in a full breath, wincing as he did while he tried to glare at the Angel.
The Angel just smirked as he brushed his knuckles on his slacks, "maybe that will teach you. Try not to mess up again, or you won't be leaving unscathed," he stated as he turned on his heel and walked out of the building.
Oh no, thought Cherice, she had been so engrossed it what had been happening that she had forgotten of the job she needed to get done. She let out a small sigh, she could take care of the Reaper now and just track down the Angel later, she had at least a week before the food would be completely depleted, so she could risk it. Returning her gaze back to the Reaper, she saw he was making a slow progression towards the door. Clearly the Angel had probably broken a rib or two and he was slowly healing, it made her job easier.
Pushing off of the railing, Cherice performed a beautiful somersault in the air and angled her body so she gracefully landed in front of the Reaper. "Where do you think you're going?" Cherice asked as she let her whip slowly unwind in her hand, "You aren't done here."
