I fell on my back looking at this large creature. It's magma skin flowed but never dripped, it's black horns curved down from its head to beside it's maw, and a bit stretched out. The horns were pointed and sharp, one thrust and I would be impaled.

The dragon darted its diamond eye down at me. "Mortal," it hissed. "You are the one who holds my key, are you not? I gratify you for releasing me but I must not allow the only family capable enough to weird it to live!" The dragon opened its mighty maw and lunged for me. I closed my eyes and waited for this moment to end.

When a large boom went off I looked to see that the Dragon's head had moved to the side and had smoke coming off of its cheek.

"Apocripha," a familiar voice said. I turned to find Jace standing in the door way. "You aren't supposed to be here and eating the person that freed you is mighty rude."

"No one asked you magic caster," the Dragon roared. "He and you shall both quince my hunger today!" The dragon roared once more but Jace was ready.

"Inferno Maximum," Jace chanted creating a large ball of fire and throwing it at the Dragon. The monster roared as it was pushed back and Jace kept pelting it with fire balls.

"Mathew," he yelled. "Grab the key! You must remove it as I push Apocripha back into his realm!" He continued to pelt the dragon with attacks and I scrambled to my feet.

I grabbed the key and twisted it and pulled with all of my strength until it came out. I watched as the dragon sunk into the portal as it closed. The portal closed on one of it's horns and the piece was broken off. As I stared in shock, recounting everything that just happened, Jace came down next to me.

"Awesome," he squealed. "Apocripha's fang! You know the minerals that grow on Apocripha's body cannot be found anywhere else and can be used for poisons and healing agents! Imagine that, a dragon that causes the end of everything, yet he makes a mineral that can cure cancer!"

"What the hell was that," I snapped. "A giant dragon made out of fucking lava just walked through that portal and you're acting like its the most normal thing in the fucking world!"

"I know it isn't normal," he said. "We don't see Dragons too often now-a-days but much less the Dragon God! I mean most people go through their entire lives never seeing him! I'm glad that I'm lucky enough to see him!"

"I use to be one of those people until now," I screamed. "How the hell can you be so calm about this?"

"Because he wasn't at full power," he stated plainly. "Apocripha needs a blood sacrifice in order to summon him fully here. The reason only half of his body emerged is because only half of the summoning happened. You weren't in any danger. That is if you would've just rolled out of Apocripha's attack or got up and ran like any rational person." He gave me a smug look that I just wanted to smack off his face, but suddenly his eyes bulged at the sight of my arm.

"Oh my Goddess," he gasped. "You're burned! Hold still I'll heal you." He held his hands over my arm and muttered some words and suddenly the stinging was gone. I looked down at my arm and noticed it was as good as new.

"Uh,"I muttered. "Thanks."

"No problem," he smiled. "Besides, healing spells are a basic. Even a non Mage like you can learn some!"

"You know you make asshole comments like that," I said. "But your personality and face make it so hard to hate you properly."

"I get that a lot," he smiled. He helped me up and we both made our way to my house.

As Jace helped me in I found my mom sitting at a table while Markus was cleaning up and I realized the time of day. "Oh no," I sighed.

"Where were you," my mother said sweetly. "We've been waiting for you and... oh hello... Oh my gosh you brought home a friend! My son isn't a loner loser!" My mom walked up to Jace and I and all I could do was hang my head.

"Salutations," Jace greeted. "I'm Jace, I'm in several of your child's classes. I must ask you though, did you give him this key knowing it was the door to the demonic-hellish land of the Dragon God Apocripha?"

Did he really just plainly state that! Dude you have to explain things before you just blurt them out!

"Yes," my mom said plainly. "Why and how do you know about all of this, oh wait let me guess. You hold a key as well don't you?"

"Yes I do," Jace stated. What's going on, my mom knew this key was dangerous and decided not to tell me?

"Wait," my mom said before glaring at me. "You didn't find the door did you?" Jace responded with a nod and my mom's glare turned ice cold. "You opened the arc didn't you! I told you not to let it leave your side!"

"The key lead me too it," I yelled back at her. "It wouldn't let me leave and it would've taken off my head!"

"Hey," Jace intervened. "Let's just calm down, Apocripha wasn't able to get fully into this world because of the lack of a blood sacrifice. For now we're okay."

"Who is this," my mom asked finally. "Why does he know so much?"

"You'll have to ask him that," I said.

Jace perked up and began to speak. "My mom taught me since I was young, especially once I showed the potential for the dark arts. I know about all twenty Gods, both Dark and Light. I know the history and all about the creatures that serve under the Gods themselves."

And to think, I woke up this morning feeling like a normal teenager.
