"Zane"

Zane ignored the cold seeping into his arms...

Who did she think she was?

He grinded his teeth, narrowing his eyes and he felt the ice gathering around his fingers. Clamping down on it he locked the anger away. His breathing evened out and he felt his raw nerves calming. He kept walking, not knowing where he was going but he didn't care. Adrian wasn't going to be expecting him back anytime soon and he didn't answer to him to begin with.

Then he heard it...

His senses tightened, screaming at him to move and he leapt forward just as the ground he'd been walking on exploded. Rock and debris pelted him and he grunted, raising his arms to protect his head. When it was over he lowered them, his silver eyes shining bright.

"So, that blackened heart does have a soft spot?" The voice was ancient, pricking at his skin and Zane stiffened, his whole body going on alert. A figure melted out of the shadows, appearing before his eyes to hover a few feet off of the ground. Zane didn't reply and his silence must have seemed funny to the creature. It snickered, the sickly laugh drawing on the air as if poisoning it.

"You're at a loss, Blood Prince," the creature raised its hands, a long, barbed whip in each of them, "and I'm going to make you suffer for it."

Zane looked at the creature...

Then his eyes fastened upon the distant house...
