We all know what writer’s block is. Probably the most dreaded disease among writers, it is dangerous and deadly, stealing from us our most powerful weapon. Words.
Writers are a unique type of people. Only writers can understand writers; other people look at us like we belong in an asylum. But we know who we are, and we thrive on that. Words, stories, and characters are an intricate part of our nature, and nothing can take that away from us.
Well… except for that pestersome writer’s block.
When the words cease to flow and your mind becomes stagnant, it’s painful. You feebly pick up your pen and write a sentence with agonizing slowness. Reading over the words again, you wad up the paper and hurl it into the trash. You start to wonder if you’ll ever write again.
Which is probably the silliest possibility you could wonder. Writer’s block can only last for so long. But it does carry with it a sort of despairing I-can-never-write-well-again mentality. This is not a healthy mindset for any writer.
When bogged down with lack of words, I have found writing prompts to be an excellent source of inspiration. Which brings us to this book.
I have decided to write a book consisting of 147 writing prompts to challenge and encourage my fellow writer. Why 147 you ask? Because I happen to like that number. If all goes as planned, I will be posting one prompt a day.
Life as a writer can be difficult; trust me, I know. But it is my hope that through these little prompts, I can help push you out of the darkness of writer’s block and toward greater success and fulfillment as a writer.
If this idea intrigues or interests you, then stay tuned! :)
