*Liam POV*

The minute I saw this fragile blond boy in front of me I knew he needed someone to help him. He puts up a good front, but I can tell that he's just screaming for help with all his words falling silent. I should know, before Zayn came along, I used to be just like that. I just want to be his friend and help him. It doesn't seem Niall has any friends at the moment, and he doesn't seem very open to the idea of having any. The first day went by pretty quickly so Zayn and I just went home. But I couldn't get Niall off my mind. I can't allow him to waste more of his life in fear. I don't know what he's insecure about or anything, but he assuredly is putting up these walls for a good reason.

Maybe I'm just overthinking this. Maybe he's just one of those badass loners that just dislike company. That would explain the black eye too. Either way, I'm going to talk to him tomorrow. I just have to sleep.

~10 hours later~

"Liam, mate. It's time to get up." Zayn said.

"Zayn!? How surprising. Isn't it usually me that ends up waking you up?" I said with a slight chuckle.

"Not enough time Liam. We have 20 minutes to get to school. So brush your teeth, I already packed some breakfast bars for today." Zayn said.

"Okay, what type of breakfast bars?" I asked.

"Oh, some Lucky Charms and Honey Nut Cheerios breakfast bars." Zayn said.

"Waa, Lucky Charms are so overrated. The marshmellows are the ONLY reason anyone eats them. That fibery remnants along with it is putrid and disgusting. And Honey Nut Cheerios is just ratchet." I said as-a-matter-of-factly.

"Oh my god, Liam later. Right now, just brush your teeth!" Zayn said getting panicked.

As I hurried brushing my teeth, flossing of course just because wouldn't want any unhealthy teeth. No sirey. Anyway, we made to school just in time. Normally, I wouldn't be very excited about learning Literature in 1st period, but if I got the opportunity to speak with Niall it would all be worth it. I scaled the room to notice that Niall wasn't there. Hm.. maybe he had some sort of an appointment today?

Zayn said he would be a bit. Zayn is pretty mysterious even for me. We've been living together like brothers for such a long time but there's still so much that I don't know about him. His family took me under their wing after an incident.

As I was walking back to my home, I saw a body lying in the street. Omg. No, there was no mistaking it. This was Niall's body.

"Niall, Niall, answer me! It's me, Liam!" I yelled.

I could find a pulse and a heartbeat. He must have been in a fight, but I'm really scared for him. Either way, I have to take you home.

"I know you can't hear me, but I'm going to take you home. I'll get you all patched up there." I said.

When I finally got him home, I immediately started to wipe all the blood off with a moist towelette.

I decided it would be best to leave him alone for now, but Niall said something in his sleep that caught my attention.

"Don't abandon me dad."
