Broken Home

Chapter One

"MOM!! MOM!! Mom where are you?!?" Kate screamed, you could hear the terror in tht little 13 year olds voice as she ran through the house lookig for her mother. 

"I'm right here Kate, calm down. What's wrong?" Her mother says kind of annoyed with all of her daughters yelling. 

"It's Brian, he's hurt!" She tells her mom. 

"Where is he? What happened? How hurt is he?" Kate's mother said with so much worry in her voice. 

"He's outside by the hen house. He was running and fell, he hit his head pretty hard on a rock or something. I don't really know what it was." Kate says in a hurry pulling her mother trying to get her to hurry to get Brian some help. 

"Well..is he bleeding?? Do I need to get bandages before going out?" Her mother says. 

"Mom just come on! If we need anything I will run back and get them just hurry up!" She says almost in tears at her mothers slow moving pace. 

When they get out to Brian, Kate rushes over to see if he is bleeding. She notices a little blood on his head, she runs over to her mom who still isn't there yet. Kate tells her she is going to go get the first aid kit. 

"Brian, Brain! Are you okay?" Her mother says as she finally gets over to him. 

Brian doesn't respond. She bends down to see if he is breathing. As she lifts up his head to put it on her lap she notices a rok under his head with a very sharp point on it. 

"Hmm.. that must be what he hit his head on." She says quietly to herself. inspecting around him, she doesn't see anything he could of tripped over. 

When Kate gets back the bandage up his head before rushing to the car to take him to the hospital. Although he didn't loose much blood, they needed  to see if there was anyother damage. Brian is still not waking up, he must have been knocked out cold. 

"Why is he breathng so heavy?" Kate says finally breaking the silence in the car. 

"I don't know! I'm not a freaking doctor!!" Her mother says with a harsh tone. 

"Did I do something to upset you?" Kate says in a curious voice. 

"I know you tripped him Kate! Don't think I'm that stupid. There was nothing he could of tripped over out there!" Her mother says in an incredibly harsh tone, that almosts make Kate cry at the thought of her mother thinking that she had something to do with this. 

"What are you talking about mom! Why would I do this?" Kate says fighting back the tears. 

"It's not the first time you have done this to him! Remember? You're the one who pushed him dwon the stairs breaking his arm, then punching him in the nose for no aparent reason!" Her mother says. 

"I never did that! He just blamed me so his little friend wouldn't get in trouble! Brian knew you hated Luke! Luke is the one who pushed him down the stairs! And the one who punched him! Haven't you ver realized that when ever Brian gets hurt Luke is around to tell you I'm the one who did it!" Kate retaliates. 

"I never said I hated Luke, yeah he's not the greatest kid. But I knew that he didn't do it, he wouldn't hurt a fly!" Her mother says trying to hold back all the feelings she has towards Luke. 

"Just because you and Luke had a thing doesn't mean you can always stick up for him!! Luke was over today whenn you were in the houe they were outside messing around. Then they were having a race and Luke tripped Brian and when he saw that he was out cold and bleeding he took off!" She responds with so much hatred and anger towards her mother. 

"Don't you dare ever bring that up again! We did not have  thing!!" Kates mother says. 

"Mom, don't lie to yourself! I saw you and him having sex! Or were you just raping him like you did to our old neighbors kid!" Kate responds with all the hate and anger as the last time. 

Her mother doesn't respond, she just stares at the road. As they pull into the hospital parking lot they rush Brian inside and get him the medical attention that he needs. A they take Brian away into a hospital room Kate and her mother sit in the witing room. 

"We will finish out conversation later." Her mother leans over and whispers inton Kates ear.
