"Hey Adam. What are you doing around here. I thought you had work today." Wren yelled back. Making her way to him.
"I got off early and I was going to come over and suprise you, but obviously it didn't really work out did it." He laughed.
Adam and Wren had been together for about 1 year, with them both being Sophmores in high school, they had been together since 9th grade. He had brown hair and large muscles due to all of the sports he was involved in. He and Wren met at a Track meet and that is how they became best friends and even better boyfriend and girlfriend. Wren had loved him. She felt like he was one of the only people she could talk to.
"Thats great", Wren walked up to him and gave him a hug and a kiss, "I was just on my way home, perfect timing, I was at school finishing a test." She lied.
"Since when have you stayed after school for a test?" Adam said, raising his eyebrows. He knew her too well.
She wanted to tell him everything, how she had felt. She realized how bad of an idea that would be and she shrugged her shoulders. "I dont know. I felt the sudden urge to get my grades up." She stated sarcasticly.
"Hey, how about we go hang out the Park ." Adam said and gave a little wink. Wren couldn't resist, not to admit, it would probably help her forget about her 'powers'. Wren wondered what would happen if he found out. Would he dump her. Would he hate her. She couldn't even fathom what she would do if they broke up. They were perfect for eachother.
"Sounds awesome" Wren smiled. She rubbed her arms in hope he would give her his coat. It was cold, being the fall in New York City, she should have brought a coat, it was near to 30 degrees F.
As expected, Adam took off his coat and put it around Wren, then rested his arm around her. She felt warm and safe, for once. As they walked down to the dock she could see the sun setting. "Aw man, I think we're going to miss the sunset, i really wanted to see it." Wren stated. She put her NYC High School track team sweatshirt over her hands. She took a strand of her blond hair, that fell out of her ponytail, and put it behind her ear.
"It's ok we can still see it from here, either way it will be romantic." Adam said in a sarcastic tone as he rubbed Wren's arm to keep her warm.
Wren rubbed her neck. "Um, Adam?" She said in a shaky voice. She tried not to break down. She was going to do it. She was going to tell him about her 'powers' even if he hates her afterwards, at least she told someone. She needed to tell someone.
"What's wrong, Wren?" Adam said worried. She knew he could tell that something was wrong.
"There has been something ive been meaning to tell you. Your one of the only people I trust. I hope things can be the same after this, I just.. I, cant hold it in anymore." Wren said trying not to fall to the ground.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. You're not breaking up with me are you. I've seen enough movies to see where this is going, Wren I thought we were made for eachother.. I-" Adam was interrupted by Wren.
"No! Adam, this has nothing to do with that!" She worried. "I wanted to tell you that weird things have been happening lately, trust me I'm not crazy, but I can make things move." She choked out the words. "I've searched everywhere for reasoning, but nothing relates to me, I can do these THINGS and I can't control them. Maybe I am going crazy. I'm just..I...I can't hold this in anymore I had to tell someone." Wren said. Her voice was shaking and she felt warm tears running down her cheeks. "Please you have to trust me Adam."
Adam stood in shock. "Wren, its ok," He said hugging her, "I believe you, no matter what I'll still..love you." He said confusingly.
"What do I do Adam?" Wren said in her shakey voice. She didn't know what else to say. She couldn't stop the warm tears form falling down her bitter cheeks from the cold weather in New York. She couldn't even comprehend that Adam said he loved her, she was too worried about what was going to happen. She was going crazy, she felt alone. But then she realized that she had Adam. He was the only one she had told and he still loved her. She felt safe.
"I-I don't know, but we will figure it out." Adam said holding her. He put his hands on her shoulders and looked in her eyes. "Let's take you home and tell your parents." He said in a calming voice. It was too calming, he said it like she was stupid.
"No!" Wren yelled, "You can't tell anyone, they will hate me, they will put me away!" She realized that Adam wasn't who she thought. He was going to tell everyone. He would gladly send her to that mental hospital. He thought she was inferior to him and helpless. He thought she was crazy.
"Is this really how you think of me. You think I'm crazy and helpless and inferior." She yelled, tears rolling down her face, "Wow, I thought you were different."
"What?! That's not what I'm saying!" He said putting his hands back on her shoulders and Wren pushed them off. "I just think you need some time, to get some...help." Adam blurted out.
"Some help!? See this is why I never told anyone, because they would treat me like you are!" Wren couldn't close her mouth, she was too astonished by how he had treated her, she couldn't even be angry she was too confused.
"Wren! Come on! Its not how you think it is." Adam said trying to convince her. As if she would forgive him.
He tried to hug her but she pushed him off, "Just leave me alone!" She ran as fast as she could, even faster than her record, the one that broke her whole school record. She felt the warm tears rolling down her face again and didn't even wipe them off. She heard glass smash as she ran by the store windows. It wasn't a robbery or high winds. It was her. It was Wren. She made the glass break. Without a single touch. And she wasn't the only one who saw it. She wasn't alone, but this time she wished she was.
