~ Jack's POV ~
I woke up with a pain on my stomach, back and head.
My head was throbbing, my stomach was aching and my back was on fire.
I groaned in pain and tried to sit up.
Nope that's not happening I thought to myself and I plopped back down on the bed.
What the hell. Where am I.
I finally got a grasp of reality and realized that I'm not in my room.
I looked down across the room that I'm in and I saw Mark on the ground. It seemed like he's been sitting there for a while.
"Your up!" Mark said. I think that's what he said, he was all the way across the room and my vision isn't perfect.
Mark stood up and walked over to the bed.
"You okay?" He signed.
"Yes." I signed back
He looked at me, tilting his head not believing what I said.
"Fine. Im in the worst pain ever."
I said, being truthful.
"There we go." He signed laughing.
God I wish I could hear his laugh.
"Where'd you learn all these signs?" I asked him.
"Before you came here. I learned little sign language." Mark signed. He looked really awkward signing, it's hilarious. Grammar isn't perfect in sign language since you don't want to learn every little word.
"So you think bone broke?" Mark signed.
"No. It's just bruised." I signed, smiling at Marks attemps to make complete sentances.
"Don't laugh at my signing
S-K-I-L-L-Z." He snickered.
I laughed. He spelled out a word just to put a 'z' at the end of skills.
"You need anything?" Mark asked.
"Ice would be great."
He nodded and left the room and cane back a couple of minutes later with 3 ziploc bags of ice.
"Let's put this one your back. Sit up please." Mark signed and wiggled his left arm under my shoulders to help lift me up.
Using his other hand he gently placed the ice bag on my lower back and layed me back down.
Then he placed the other two ice bags on my abdomen and my forehead.
"Thanks Mark" I signed. But instead of spelling his name, I used the sign name I made up for him.
There is no official sign names in sign language so a deaf person has to create a sign for the persons name.
For Mark's name I made an 'M' and put it to the middle of my chest.
Mark looked at me in disbelief and asked
"Is...is that my sign name?" He smiled at me repeating the same motion that I did.
"Yeah." I signed, nodding.
"Really?!" I could tell he was exited by the way he raised his eyebrows and moved his lips slightly, while his jaw dropped.
"Thank you!" He signed again
"It's really not that big of a deal Mark." I laughed
"To me it is." Mark said. He couldn't stop grinning.
He looks so cute when he smiles.
I thought to myself.
But then I realized that I can't think like that.
Mark is my only friend in this god damn place and I'm not going to let my stupid feelings get in the way.~about a week later~
~Mark's POV ~
Jack talked me into him coming over to my house again. I refused because I was terrified that what happened before would happen again but he insisted. He kept saying that he could see now since it wasn't night time and he'll be 'extra careful' this time.
I knew I wouldn't win this argument so I finally gave in and said yes.
Since it's been a week, I've been practicing my signing every single day and I've gotten quite good at it.
About 5 minutes later I heard a knock on the door and I ran to the door, of course it was Jack. I welcomed him in and we sat on the couch.
"So homework or videogames first?" I asked Jack
He seemed to genuinely think about it for a little then he said
"Homework so we can get it over with, then relax with videogames."
"Good answer." I said picking up my backpack and we worked on it for a while.
We only had to study for World Civilization and do our Algebra 2 worksheet and it was over in a flash.
Jack threw his pencil down after we finished our last question on the worksheet.
"Finished! What videogame do you want to play?" Jack was pretty much bouncing in exitement.
The phone rang.
"Hold on. The phones ringing." I said running out of the room to answer the house phone.
I picked up
"Hello?"
I asked whoever called. I looked over to see Jack turned around. I could tell he was trying to read my lips showing how focused he was.
"Hello, is this Mark Fischbach?" The voice asked.
"Yes this is him. Who's asking." I questioned the person on the other side of the line.
"This is the police department.
We found the man that killed your mother.
If you would like to talk to him just come down and we'll let you see him."
I was speechless and I couldn't move.
"....Th-thanks." I softly said, it being the only thing I could say. I hung up and I put my hand up to my face, scratching my stubble.I saw Jack walk up over to me.
"Mark. What's up? What happened?" He looked so concerned.
"They. They found the man that killed my mother." I muttered looking to JackDAAAANG hahaha
