*Her*
I've been so uncomfortable lately. Ever since that night that boy fell into me, all I can think about is the familiarity of his presence.
I feel as if I've seen him before. But I don't know when or where. I can just feel it. It's strange. But I'm curious. There was just something about him.
I shut my eyes tight. Why am I so concerned about whether or not I think that I know someone. I'm just being paranoid. I open my eyes again, feeling a little better. I continue to read.
But before I can even start the sentence I was preparing to read, the light coming from the window I sat in front of was eclipsed by a large figure.
"Whatcha reading?" My brother breathes on my neck. His breath is moist from the cold.
"A book," I bat my eyelashes in annoyance. I kind of miss the quiet when my brother was at college."What's the name of the book?" He plops down on the couch next me, casually erupting my space bubble.
I breathe in deeply. "Don't you have like a girlfriend or something? Don't you have "dudes" you hang out with?"
"I do. But I just wanna hang out with my sis. Y'know I miss being with my family." I sigh. I did miss Andrew when he was away. Having no friends to talk to was bad enough, but not having any siblings to talk to was even worse. I was alone.
But he's back, and I'm better. I should take advantage of this.
"Yeah I missed you too," I look up and smile at him."Yeah I know you did, obviously. Who wouldn't miss this?" Andrew gestures to his whole body, casually lingering near his face and chest. "So," my book is pulled out of my hands, "what are you reading?"
"Can't you read the title?"It's his turn to roll his eyes. He reads the front cover. "Catcher in the Rye, hmm a good book. Actually a great book. Holden is definitely me."
"In what way?"
"He likes drinking, and girls, and so do I."
"Wow. You two are the exact same person. How's Sunny?"He threatens to hit me with the book, and I quickly duck down avoiding possible concussion. Andrew throws the book back into my lap as he jumps off of the couch.
He turns around to look at me. "Hey do you want me to order for takeout?"
I quickly nod. "Yes please," I grin my hardest.
He nods in return and turns to leave.
I tune back into my reading, getting comfortable. I'm in my zone. Not even two steps away Andrew turns back around. He looks to me as if he wants to ask me something.
"What?" I watch him in confusion.
He points at me. "You- what happened that one night? Y'know that night we went to Auntie Anne's? Why did you act weird when I came outside?" He waits for my answer. He sounds worried.
"I honestly don't know. It was a weird moment, and I'm not yet sure why it happened." I shrug, "Some guy just ran into me. He was really nervous, and when he looked at me he just walked away."
Andrew raises his eyebrows in response. "You didn't even know him?" I shake my head. "That's pretty weird. What if he knows you, that's why he ran away when he saw you."
I immediately look up at him.
What if he's right? What if that guy does know me. I just don't know him. Or I do know him, and I fail to realize it."Well, who knows, he was a weird guy. But if you'll excuse me, I'm going back to reading," I escape the conversation.
Andrew just shrugs and walks away, resigned. He's just worried about me. Maybe me acting weird made it seem as if I was upset about something. As he should be.I just don't know how I could possibly know that boy, and more importantly how he could've recognized me. I don't remember seeing him before. But, it's possible for someone to pay attention to you, while you just ignore them.
Or maybe our meeting was serendipitous.
