"I am falling, and I'm too weak to fly, now my heart's wide open, and you're the reason why"

He's still sat there like he has been all night, in that same hospital chair, his hand placed on top of the sheets that cover her, as he smiles down at her. He didn't leave. Not once. She knew he wouldn't, but still couldn't understand why.

"I wanted a nice one"

The confusion in his eyes tells her she needs to explain some more, but she just can't find the words.

"I.. Just. I.."
The tears she's been trying so desperately to hold back are now flowing freely, leaving tracks down her cheeks. He takes a hold of her hand as if in aid to comfort her as he strokes it slowly with his thumb. And it does, it's soothing although she still can't find the right words to say.

"Hey, hey... hey. It's okay." He whispers. Her  breath is still ragged as she fights back more tears, her eyes becoming blurry from the sensation. But he doesn't say anything, he just sits there watching her as if she might vanish before his eyes.

She turns her head to look at him, it causes her some pain but it's worth it. Just so she can see him, that's worth everything and more.

She can see the concern etched on his face. He hasn't seen her this broken in a long time, not broken as in injured, although she is, and in a considerable amount of pain by the looks of it not that she wants to show it. But he gets it. He gets her.

"I'm so sorry"
He doesn't understand why she's sorry, she's done nothing wrong. He just wants to hold her, to protect her like he wanted to before all this, he wants to makes sure nothing ever hurts her again. He lifts his hand to softly wipe her tears away, as he holds back his own, being careful of the cuts and bruises on her face.

"You're the best thing that's ever happened to me, and I.. I just keep on messing it up" she says it so softly he has to strain to hear her. He lets a tear slide down his cheek, he hates to see her so vulnerable, so damaged. So broken.

"Hey, it's not your fault. And you haven't messed anything up."
He says this while looking deeply at her, willing her to understand, to find a way to tell her that he doesn't blame her. "It's all just a part of our rollercoaster ride" she smiles at him as she remembers last time he said something similar,  he loved that smile. And he'd give her the world just to see it again. And he thinks she understands, he hopes she does. It's like they have a silent way of communicating, that only they understand.

"I promise, when we are married. I'll never let anything hurt you again"
And she believes him, instantly she doesn't need him to persuade her, the look on his face says it all. "It's going to be kittens and candy floss all the way" he lets out a little chuckle as she whispers it back to him.

"Don't forget the rose petals" she says while smiling at him, her eyes now glistening from the tear that just rolled down her cheek.  He's certain, he'd give all the rose petals in the world if it would make her happy.

But he doesn't say anything, just smiles, as he leans over being careful of her arm in the cast, he kisses her and attempts to put all the love he feels for her in to that one kiss, he hopes she understands, he settles back down in his chair, as her eyes begin to close. He knows she's tired.

"Sleep" he whispers "I'm not going anywhere."
