Chapter 2:

Y/N:

It’s 2 o’clock the following day when you get a text from an unknown number. It reads, “Hey Y/N Hope you didn’t forget about our little date tonight. If you’d like I could pick you up around 7 and take you to dinner. How does that sound? ~ Nath”

You smile and reply with your address and, “Okay, sounds good! See you soon!”

An hour later, you get a text from Rachel. It says, “Hey girl! Good luck on your date tonight! Please, don’t fuck it up!”

You laugh and put your phone down, ignoring the message.

Later, your curiosity hits you. You grab your laptop, sit on your couch with Family Guy on and Google ‘The Wanted’ and all of a sudden, pages and pages of news and images pop up on your screen. You click on a picture of The Wanted. You see your date. You go back up to the search bar and type in ‘Nathan Sykes from The Wanted.’ You look at pictures and articles and watch interviews and you get a little creeped out. You didn’t realize that he was so famous.

You decide to ignore it and go to get ready so you can look extra special for your date you’re your recently-found-out celebrity.

At 7 o’clock sharp, you hear a knock on your front door. “Oh hello, you must be Nathan,” you hear your mom say.

You run down the stairs quickly to stop her from saying anything too embarrassed. You say hello to Nathan, give a hug goodbye to your mom, grab your jacket, and close the door behind you.

You put on your jacket as you walk in front of Nathan to the car he has waiting for the two of you. He compliments your outfit choice and says that your mother seems lovely.

There is an awkward silence the whole way to the restaurant. You don’t know what to say or do or think. But you are wondering why he hasn’t said anything in a while. You look over at him to make sure he’s still breathing.

He is watching the driver in front of him drive when he catches you looking at him. You dodge his eyes quickly and he laughs. He grabs your hand and continues watching the driver and looking out the front window. You watch your hand intertwined with his and smile slightly enough for him not to notice. You turn and look out your window in silence, still holding his hand

Right before you pull up to the restaurant, Nathan quickly turns to you, “Mind if you cover your face until we get inside?”

You laugh and say, “Uh, okay?”

When you pull up in front of the restaurant, the vehicle is quickly swarmed by big men with cameras. A bodyguard from the restaurant opens up the car door, pulling you and Nathan out. He leads you into the restaurant where you will be sat in the back, closed off area of the dining area.

There is a small table with a white tablecloth, fine china, and a small yellow candle in the center. Nathan leads you over to the table, pulling out a chair for you, you sit down. You say, “Well, this is nice.” He laughs.

After the waitress comes to take your drink orders, Nathan says, “You live here in LA right?”

Yeah,” you say, “I moved here about a year ago with my mom.”

“Oh any reason or you just felt like it?” he said with a laugh.

You laugh. “Well my mom came here for treatment and I didn’t want her coming alone.”

“Treatment? For what?” he says. You hesitate before answering. “Too personal?” he jokingly asks to lighten the mood.

You laugh and answer, “No my mom was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago.”
