I lay spralwed out on my bed, staring at my ceiling, a book layed out on my stomach.  I can't stop thinking about the boy.  What's his name?  Why does he have all of my attention?  Where is my sanity?

I shake my head and sit up, glancing at the clock.  6:30.  Fantastic, I've been daydreaming for thirty minutes!  My phone starts to vibrate and I jump in the air, shreiking.  Calming down, I reach into my pocket and pull out my phone, the sleek green cover glinting in the light.

The caller ID blares Shelly Greene, so I flip it open and put the phone up to my ear, situating myself at my vanity.  I look in the mirror and see a girl with an oval face, her brown frizzy hair sticking up at all angles, and her dull gray eyes looking back at me.  I frown, and attempt to push down my hair with one hand.

"Grace!  Thank god you picked up! You won't believe what just happened.  I was just walking the dog, and the boy we saw at lunch, you know, the new one?  Yeah, well, he was outside walking his dog, and asked about you!"

I don't answer, just kind of sit there and think for a while.  The boy had asked about me!  He had asked about me! Not, Shelly, me.  But before my thoughts can go on, I think about how Shelly said he was a no gooder.

"Shelly, why are you so excited if you don't like the guy?  Did you even ask his name?" I voice my worries out loud.

"Of course I did, silly! His name is Brian." She says, evading my first question.

"But why are you so excited if you don't like the guy?" I ask, starting to grow impatient with her.  She really has too much to say, but when you ask her a question, she doesn't answer back!

"Well, we can finally get you a boyfriend!  And he actually cares about you! Come on, he asked about you! That means he actually cares and remembers!" She gushes out, and I can practically see her planning our wedding already.

"Woah, girl.  Calm down.  Don't get your hopes up.  I just learned his name, and he totally blew us off at lunch.  I don't go out with guys like that." I contradict her.

"Fine, be that way.  But you just wait and see.  He's a real catch." She finishes and hangs up.  I close my phone and look at it, fighting myself inside.

He asked about me, but that doesn't automatially mean he cares about me.  You can ask about a girl for other reasons.  And besides, just like I told Shelly, he totally blew me off.

What is he doing to me?

~Brian's POV~

I look out the window while fixing a sandwich and see the girl from lunch outside walking her dog.  I drop my sandwich materials and hurry out the door, grabbing my dog by the collar and clipping his leash on him.  I open the door and push Frodo out.

Yes, I do realize it's an odd name for a dog, but I have an addiction to the Lord of the Rings books and movies.  I named Frodo, Frodo, because he always made these funny faces, and of course is so short and stubby he could be a hobbit.

"Hi," I say, walking leisurly to the girl whos name I don't remember.

Her face dims as I walk towards her, like she's disappointed to see me instead of someone else.  I hold out my hand for her to shake and say my name.

"The name's Brian. I never told you at lunch, sorry.  Um, what's your name again?" I ask akwardly, tugging at the collar of my shirt.

"Shelly." she says, and her face starts to brighten up.  I guess giving her my name somehow made her like me better.  Whatever.

"So, how's Grace?" I ask, not knowing what else to say, and really wanting to get out of here.  I don't know why I wanted to talk to her so badly anyway.  I regret the urge from earlier.

Her face brightens immensly, and I scrunch my eyebrows together in confusion.  What is wrong with this girl?  Does she have mood swings?

"Oh my gosh, she's awesome!" She says, practically waving her hands around.

"Okay, well.  I got to go.  Bye!" I turn around and head back into the house, taking a deep breathe, a let Frodo off the leash and finish my sandwich.
