Mine (A TMNT Fanfic)

Hey you readers! I took a break from my Ninjago fanfic because I got inspiration for this TMNT  one. It's a Donnie/April songfic, based in the 2012 series. It takes place right after April is forced to move in with the turtles. It focuses on Donnie's thoughts and feelings. The song is "You Will Be Mine" by Lenka. It's really good, go listen to it after you read this. Enjoy! 

She moved in to the house next door

Said she'd never been in love before

Tried the best she could to hide herself away

Ever since April had moved in with the turtles, she had become distant. Master Splinter told his sons to give her some time to adjust

But every time she turned the lights down low

He thought he heard a voice calling out so slow

Come and take me away from all this pain

Donnie wasn't happy letting her adjust. It wasn't fair. It was bad enough that the Krang were after her, but now Shredder too? She was too sweet and caring for this. She had done nothing wrong.

And he said

I see you sitting there at the window sill

Looking for shooting stars

I wanna get closer and closer still

I wanna take over your heart

Donnie had promised he would protect her. In some way, he felt that he had failed her. True, she was still alive, but she was stuck in the sewers being hunted down by two very dangerous groups. 

You will be mine, mine

Over time, time

You're gonna find, find

I'll make you mine, mine

Donnie felt horrible about how he felt. He had no right to make things harder for her than they already were. But there was something in him that made him keep trying to win her over.

Every morning when she came outside

He tried to be the one to catch her eye

But she would only turn away and hide

She rarely left her room, but whenever she did he couldn't help but fight hard to gain her attention and approval. He was head over heels for her and there was nothing he could do to change that. But he knew she would never feel the same way. 

He started to concoct a plan

To get her to return the feelings that he had

To show her how he thought they were entwined

She was always so kind and smart. She was perfect for him, but he wasn't perfect for her. 

Little love letters written in red

Folded up, put away next to the bed, oh

Little crushed hopes every day

Waiting in the wings to spirit her away

He had scrapped all of his tricks and gimmicks. Even his "Hang with April" flow chart was crumpled under his bed. He could only dream that one day he would find reason to hope.

I see you sitting there at the window sill

Hope that one day she would be his.
