One Hell of a Cat

I woke up in a bed....so it wasn't a dream, I have a place to stay.

I hopped out of my bed and got dressed into my new uniform. My day started with setting the table for the master's breakfast.

"Oi, new girl, need help serving!" Bardroy yelled from the kitchen.

"I have a name Bard."

"Armelle, please come and help serve the breakfast."

I grabbed the plates of food and carried them to my already seated master.

"Today we have Danishes and poached eggs master. And the tea is earl grey."

"Thank you Armelle, glad to see you didn't let Bard burn the meal."

"Yes I kept a VERY close eye on him." I smiled at Bard. He pulls my tail teasingly. I blush and pout at him.

"Act professional and stop flirting you two." A demanding voice yelled.

"We weren't flirting Sebastian." I glared at him.

"Whatever you call it stop doing it."

I stick my tongue at Bard.

"Armelle."

"Yes." I turn towards Sebastian.

"I need you to organize the library. There are some things out of order."

"Ok I understand." I nod and run off towards the library.

I spent a dull day cleaning an extravagant yet dusty library. After cleaning I find a couch. Sitting on the couch, I lay down and begin to drift off.

"Armelle? I need to speak with you."

I was sitting in front of my master's bed. She was ill...a ghost of what she used to be. I stared at her, wanting to help her but I couldn't.

"Could you at least smile for me. All human lives have to end at some point."

"I know....I just didn't think I would get attached to a human..." I looked down at my fists as tears threaten to escape.

She smiles kindly and kisses my forehead in that gentle way that a mom would kiss her child's head.

"I want you to keep this." She pulled out her hair clip, it was crafted from bamboo and had this exquisite design of butterflies and morning glories etched into it. She placed it in my hair.

"Please take care of yourself Armelle." She peacefully closed her eyes accepting her death in that moment with grace.

"No!" I screamed and woke up in a cold sweat. I touch my cheeks and feel tears streaming down. Touching my hair clip I try to soothe myself from a memory long past.

"Armelle?"

I turn to meet eyes with Crimson ones. Sebastian stared at me, with curiosity.

"Why are you crying?"

I wiped my tears, "Just memories...don't worry about me. Is there anything else you need of me?"

He walked over and pulled out a handkerchief and wiped my eyes. "A maid mustn't cry, especially when serving her master. I need you to serve tea to the visitors coming later this evening."

"Understood."

"And Armelle, if you have any problems you wish to discuss, see me."

"Thank you." I say looking up into the concerned eyes of Sebastian.

After the small chat I had with Sebastian, I went straight to work; keeping an eye on Bardroy in the kitchen.

"I can cook just fine....you don't need to watch me."

"Bard....how many explosions happen per year in this kitchen?"

Bard sighs, "Fine point taken...."

I smile and walk up to him, "Bard, you need to take things slow. If you don't, you'll never be able to cook properly. Each step is important. I'll make Ciel's food and afterward we'll work on something simple."

He places a large hand on my head and ruffles my hair. "Well I bet you're a lot more patient than Sebastian."

"I bet anyone is." I chuckle.

It was a rather rushed affair, basically everything went to hell and Sebastian had to pull us all out of it. I'm so shocked the Italian business man was scared by the eccentrics during the whole ordeal.

After dinner the man made a call. Nothing suspicious right? Well wrong, because that business man thought he could pull the wool over the Phamtomhive's eyes. And that ignorance costed him quite dearly.

"Armelle, we need to call someone to clean the oven."

I smirked "Oh quite right. So did our little piggy escape?"

"Oh yes. Afraid so."

I could help but laugh with Sebastian. Suddenly my cat ears poked out of my maid band. As soon as that happened, Sebastian had this blush across his face.

Sebastian came over and started touching my cat ears, "So soft..."

"S-Sebastian...what are you doing?"

"Oh I couldn't help myself. You're just such a cute kitty."

I blushed, "Don't say such things...."

He smirks, "Oh why not?"

I looked at him plainly, "I said so."

"Armelle, you should retire. You've had a long first day."

I sigh, "You're telling me. Well goodnight Sebastian."

"Goodnight my kitten."
