"Mom?"
I looked at my mother shocked, tears running down my face faster and faster. I shook her hand but she wouldn't open her eyes. The heart monitor was beeping right but this vision broke my heart.

Her face was full of black and purple bruises. Her gold eyes were no longer as shiny. Instead, they were both puffy. There was a long thick I V inside her completely pale arm. A small cut ran across her right hand, the one I was holding. I could resist rubbing my cold thumb over it.

I looked ahead of me and dad's eyes were puffy from crying. I never saw my dad look so depressed or hurt like this before. It feels like a bullet running through my heart.

Lilly was rolled up in a ball near the lamp. This is the worst sight ever! I hated it.

I hate that my mom got in an accident. I hate that Lilly is only six and has to go through this. I hate that my dad is so hurt. I hate the thought that she may not survive, I hated it all!

Beep.Beep.Beep.... The beeping kept getting faster and faster.

"DAD?! WHAT'S HAPPENING?!!" I couldn't think straight. Doctors were rushing in the room, tugging me by the arm to get out. I don't want to leave! I took one last glance at my very sick mother before a metal door was slammed in my face. My vision got blurry quickly.
-----------------------------------------
My leg stung a bit because Lilly fell asleep long ago. She was curled up in a little ball, her head and stomach on my dads lap and her mini legs on mine.

It's been about an hour since that dreadful moment. Everything seemed to go wrong and I don't know how it could get any worse. I mean it's not super bad but what if my mom doesn't wake up?

She's gonna wake up.

But what if she doesn't?

Girl stop being so negative she is going to wake up!

Gosh! My inner head voice was mean to me but it's kind of true. I have never really been a positive person. Whenever I wake up in the morning it's "put a smile on your face and fool them". That's kind of what I do every day. I didn't have many friends to fool.

Heck you don't have any friends!

Before I could "reply" to my inner self, I caught sight of a male doctor, pretty attractive I gotta say.

Now is not the time to crush on some male doctor.

He didn't have a very good expression on his face. His eyebrows were furrowed and he looked kind of nervous for some reason. Dr. Flift is what it says on his name tag. He stopped in front of my dad and I,licked his lips, looked down and said "I'm so sorry, we did all we could".

I swear the whole world stopped around me. There were no longer whispers from other people. There were no more ambulance sirens outside. It felt like someone jabbed a knife in my heart a million and two times.

"I'm so sorry, we did all we could."

Those words ran through my head over and over again. That's it. Just like that. God chose to take my mother.

THAT IS NOT FAIR!

Once again, tears started to stream down my face very fast. All I wanted to do was scream. Scream to God,scream to him because he took the only woman that mattered to me away. This had to be a nightmare....

Everything started to fade away slowly and before you know it, I was out. I couldn't see nor hear anything.
-----------------------------------------
I woke up to a loud alarm. Wait alarm? The room that I was in was light purple and had a white dresser with a big mirror on it. The curtains were black and there were a bunch of pictures on the wall. This was my room.

But when did we drive home?

Both my feet touched my stripped rug as I slipped out of bed. My slightly tan hand brought its way to my right eye, then my left.

I tip toed downstairs, careful not to wake anyone up. Before I could reach the living room, I saw my dad at the kitchen table. Hands over his eyes, hair messier than ever. I began to remember everything from yesterday. I thought that was just a nightmare, the kind where I could pinch myself and I would be awake, mom yelling up the stairs that it was time to eat breakfast. It wasn't a dream though. Everything was real, my mom is gone forever. I looked back up at my dad, hesitantly walking forward, the sun shining in my eyes.

"Dad?" I stuttered.

He looked up from his hands and both his eyes were red and puffy. He saw me and muttered, " Sorry I really shouldn't be crying. I should stay strong with you and Lilly, but it's so hard. " I shook my head rapidly and started crying. Dad walked up to me and wrapped his arms around my skinny figure. "I know dad, I know how you feel. I feel the same way. How has Lilly been taking this situation?" I asked separating from the hug and making my way to the left side of the table, taking a seat.

"Um she's been alright. I guess she doesn't really know how to react to this. I mean, nothing as bad as this has ever happened in her six years of life." I nodded my head in agreement, tears running down my face again.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My dad and I spent the whole day crying. The thought of not having a wife/mother, was horrific! I had school tomorrow but I didn't want to go. I wonder if the school already knows? We didn't have school for a day so how would they know? Hopefully they don't. I don't want everyone to pity me nor do I want them to make fun of me or bully me.

Would you really want them to bully you Paige?

No.

Would you want everyone to pity you?

Well I don't have many friends but I guess it beats getting bullied.

"Hey Paige?" My dad interrupted my inner conversation with my self.

"Yeah dad?" I noticed he put a hand on my shoulder and spoke softly.

" Why don't you go take a shower and go to bed? It's pretty late and you have school tomorrow."  I nodded my head in agreement. I don't want to wake up late for school again. I gave my dad one final hug before I rushed up stairs.

I opened the wooden door that led to my room, rushed to my white dresser, pulled out my footy pajamas, which was a zebra, and headed to the bathroom. I let the water get warm as I stripped off my clothes, leaving them on the blue tiled floor. I made my way into the shower and let the water soothe me.

What is school going to be like?

Will the students bully me?

Will the teachers pity me?

I let the thoughts get the best of me as water continuously runs down my body.
