Mirror Mirror on the wall
Give me a friend who will stand by me through it all.
It was a simple incantation. Not in a strange language. No crazy wand movements. Just standing in front of a mirror at midnight and speaking the words into your reflection.
Severus Snape sat, holding the piece of paper delivered mysteriously. Though he had an idea who sent it- the Headmaster seemed anxious for the owl to land in front of him that morning.
He sighed and picked up his wand.
He was sixteen now, and the summer had been the worst of his life, with Lily not speaking to him. She had always been able to help heal him.
At least she had kept her word and never told about the abuse.

Rebecca Snow woke, the words of a... spell of sorts ringing in her ears. She glanced at her clock to see it was midnight. She groaned and stood, stiff and sore from the beating the orphanage owner had given her earlier that night. She limped to the bathroom and grabbed a rag, running the water and cleaning the blood and dirt off her arms. She splashed it on her face before looking up and clapping a hand over her mouth to keep from yelling.
"What happened to you?" the boy standing in front of her asked. He was inside the mirror. He was thin, pale, with slightly oily black hair and eyes the color of obsidian. She smiled despite herself. She could see the hurt. He had an understanding look in his eyes. They had a silent understanding.
"What's your name?" Rebecca asked, sitting on the sink to doctor her leg, which had a long gash on it.
"Severus." he replied, a small smile gracing his features. He studied her appearance.
"Rebecca. Not to sound rude, but how in the Hell are you in the mirror?" she said. He laughed.
"I'm a wizard, and- a lot of stuff happened. I lost the only friend I ever had- Lily. I guess-"
"You just needed someone to talk to?" she asked, smiling understandingly. He nodded.
"I'm all ears." she said, grinning.
"Our hour's almost up, Rebecca. Can you come again tomorrow?" he asked, a hopeful gleam in his eyes. She couldn't refuse.
"Of course, Severus. See you." she said, pressing a hand to the cool glass of the mirror, which seemed to distort slightly under her touch. Severus put his hand on the other side, and she could almost feel the warmth of his hand from the other side. The mirror swirled and returned to normal.
Severus remained still, looking where she had been moments ago. She had long brown hair and dark blue eyes, and such a kind smile. She understood immediately that he was abused, just as he knew that she'd been beaten badly by someone. The split lip and blood on her arms had told him that.
Rebecca smiled at her reflection, knowing she looked horrible. Her lip was split, and blood covered her arms, half-cleaned off to reveal the purple and blue bruises.
At one o clock in the morning both managed to fall asleep, thinking of the one on the other side, possibly in a different world.
They each dreamed of a new friend- their only one.
