Rebecca woke at midnight and crept quietly out of her room, into the bathroom. Sure enough Severus was there. She almost jumped for joy. She hadn't been dreaming!

"You're looking better." he commented.

"I feel better. I actually had something to look forward to after school today." she replied, grinning. He broke into a smile as well.

"So, you're a wizard?" she asked, sitting on the sink. He nodded.

"What exactly do you do?" she asked, confused. He grinned.

"Well, we go to school from when we're eleven to seventeen. The school that I go to is called Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It's divided into four houses, called Slytherin, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. I'm in Slytherin, and our symbol is a snake. Gryffindor is a lion, Ravenclaw and eagle, and Hufflepuff is a badger." he said.

"So Slytherins would be kind of sneaky, like a snake. Gryffindors would be brave, Ravenclaws smart, and Hufflepuffs laid back until needed?" she inquired. His jaw dropped.

"I was thinking of what each animal sort of represents. How'd I do?" she asked.

"On the nose." he replied. She did a fist pump.

"Awesome!" she exclaimed quietly, before there was a sleeping snort that made her freeze with nothing but terror written on her face. When nothing happened she relaxed.

"What's wrong?" severus whispered.

"Nothing. I just thought the owner would wake up. I live in an orphanage. My parents died two years ago. No one knows what happened. The house just caught fire. Dad got me out, but he went back for Mom and the roof caved in." she said, explaining quietly.

"At least your parents cared about you." he whispered, a bitter note in his voice.

"So it's your parents?" she asked. He nodded, knowing she referred to the abuse.

"My father. He's a Muggle- he doesn't have magic. My mother's a witch, but she didn't tell him until after they were married." he replied.

"How do you know if you're a witch?" she asked.

"Well, a lot of times you do accidental magic. I accidentlly caused a branch to fall on Lily's sister's head one day." he said, looking ashamed.

"What if you, say, were running and found yourself out of reach? Or you were angry and something exploded?" she asked.

"Have you-" she nodded.

"I think you're a witch, Becca." he whispered. She raised an eyebrow.

"Becca?" she asked.

"Well, I just thought-" he trailed off, blushing.

"No, I like it. I've never had anyone give me a nickname before." she said, blushing as well.

"See you tomorrow, Becca." Severus said, placing his hand on the glass. She put her's on it as well.

"See you, Sev." she said, and before he could reply the mirror turned to normal.

Rebecca and Severus were both smiling, though the other didn't know at the time.

They'd really found friends.
