A little info: I tried my best to describe the house without making it too freaking confusing, but for some reason I was having a hard time with it. SO pretty much Ryan's house, or his parents, is a very very large house, six bedroom, sun room, etc. not like mansion worthy, but very comfortably worthy. So It really is not important about the house set up, it isn't going to be significant to the story at all, I just want to let you know that I am well aware that my description of the house is shit hahaha also if I find a house that looks like what I imagine ill post it, but other than that like I said it truly isn't important.
Be Cautious, Be Considerate
It was Nova, Ashton, and I sitting in the living room with an awkward silence holding over us like dense fog. Amelia and Wilkens left just moments ago after another hour long visit discussing the requirements of Nova's stay with me. To sum it up, she is to stay with me for as long as needed until she finds another place to stay, or any proven family can claim her. I am to provide transportation to and from to her therapy visits which are three times a week - Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Amelia, Wilkens, or another officer will pay a visit once or twice a week to check in, make sure all is well and that she is fed, cared for, and comfortable. Amelia also insisted upon her visits she will bring clothes and other items for Nova, but I argued against it stating that I was perfectly capable of providing for her for whatever she needs, and that if Amelia would like to bring gifts, because she wants to then so be it.
I signed off on the papers, after several moments of my brother and I bickering with Wilkens over whether I was mentally aware that I was to be taking care of another human being. Wilkens ended up storming off, slamming my front door after Ashton had a few colorful things to say to the sheriff. Amelia left shortly, after bringing in a small duffel bag from her car, giving Nova a small careful hug, and me a tight squeeze on my shoulder.
My nerves were everywhere, making my body shake, and slightly begin to sweat. This whole situation is making me anxious, and I am just waiting for something bad to happen and it's been barely thirty minutes since I have signed the legal documents. The papers don't really make me claim Nova as my own, but more like a guardian until she feels comfortable being on her own, or moving with someone else. She is 19 years old, from what Amelia was expressing but even still she didn't seem to certain on, so really she is a legal adult (if that is her age), because she doesn't remember her birthday, the year, month, date. She also doesn't know her last name, and isn't even sure if 'Nova' is her real name. Among other things, those were the very few things Amelia told me, said the rest was Nova's business to tell me, so I can only guess what else there could be.
I take a deep breath, "Are you hungry?" I ask breaking the silence looming over us. Nova looks up, a small smile placed along her lips.
"I could eat, yeah." Her voice was quiet, along with quietness of the home.
"Ohh, Brother, you're gonna make something for once?" Ashton was smirking at me from where he has been sitting the whole time.
"Funny, I was just gonna ask you to whip us up something." I smirk back as he fakes a laugh, then stand. "C'mon on Nova, let's see what we have that sounds appealing to you." She stands following me into the kitchen, as I make my way to the blinds over the counters on the back wall and letting light in. Ashton soon enters the kitchen walking toward the dining table on the other side and opening the curtains that were covering the sliding door.
"I know we have salad stuff, sandwich stuff, cereal, bagels." I opened the fridge and stepped aside for Nova to look in. She stood by the island with the black granite that my mother just had to have and light brown cabinets.
