They say "follow your heart", but if your heart is in a million pieces, which part do you follow?
I was empty and alone, ignored and unnoticed by society, as usual. No one remembered me. Nobody cared. I'm not even sure if I remember my own name.
I am suffering from anxiety. My brother and father died in a car crash, and my mother is sick in the hospital. I live with my aunt in the mean time, but I'm afraid she'll end up dead or hurt by me...
Me and my awful curse.
There's more, too-I know it's cliche, but I have a growing crush on the popular guy in school, Dylan.
I mean, he's friends with everyone! Nerds, jocks, annoyingly bossy girls, basically all the kids at Marina High. Except for me, of course.
Like I said, no one remembers me.
It's after school now. I take off from my desk and start walking (hastily) to my locker. Ah, screw it.
I don't have any important things due any time soon.I turn around, ready to start running home. I planned to kill myself today, as I didn't want family to die on me.
What I faced was not an exit. It was actually Dylan! His amber-colored orbs stared into my ugly brown ones. His sandy brown hair brushed against mine, but only for a heartbeat.
"Hey. Ashlynn, right?" he greeted me.
He greeted me. He knows me. Is it normal to feel hot on my face?
"Y-yeah. Ashlynn. Um... Dylan... How do you know me? I'm a loser that no one remembers." I responded, looking down at the floor shyly.
I mentally kicked myself. Way to go, Ash! You just told your own crush that you were a freaking loser!
"You're not a loser," I heard a voice say. "In fact, I've had a crush on you since I saw you during Marina's greeting assembly."
I jolted my head upwards. This guy remembered my name. This guy who acts friendly to freaking everyone. This guy is... also confessing his love to me in the middle of the hallway.
"I-I have a crush on you too."
He smiled at me, warm look in his eyes. He leaning towards me, our lips were going to meet...
I woke up to the school bell. I must've been sleeping in class. Of course that dream didn't happen, how could it? I am a nobody, after all.
-=•••=-
I am Ashlynn. I have midnight black hair, copper brown eyes, and I usually wear a scarf and skinny jeans. Blouses depend on the weather.
People tend to look straight through me, as if I don't exist. When I meet somebody, they end up forgetting me.
I live with my aunt, since I don't have any parents with me anymore. My dad and brother died in a car accident, and my mom is dying by an illness that doesn't have a cure. The doctors are trying to heal her to the best of their abilities, but what's the use?
I feel sorry for her. She has no one to come back to, except for her sister and her cursed daughter, who no one cares about- A daughter who no one cares to care about.
I suffer from anxiety, ending up cutting myself, but never killing myself. I'm not sure why, but I'm not able to do it. I can't.
I'm going to, though. It's going to be today. I swear it.
