chapter eight:
"last time I checked we are not the mystery gang"
***"Oh, I'm sorry. Is now not a good time? I can come back later," I never would have expected what I am witnessing right now. Roman is straddling Paige. Now I don't know what kind of friendship they have but this is not close to the top of my list.
"Oh no. You see Quinn, what you see and what is actually happening are two completely different things. Roman and I were simply practicing what we would do if a meteor shower were to hit Earth. It is merely a meteor drill," she says blushing uncontrollably.
"You'd straddle?" I ask trying to act as clueless as possible. I know that they wouldn't straddle. I'm blonde, but not stupid.
"NO! He would protect me using his body as a shield. Duh."
"By straddling?"
"Okay I'm done, why are you here? Did you find something?" Paige shoves Roman off of her and she stands up. Roman walks to her side.
"Oh yes I did."
"Wait, find what?" Roman asks.
"Oh right, you're still here. What should we do about him?" I ask.
"I already told him. He could be of benefit."
"Are you talking about the blood thing next door? Paige, you know I don't do blood." Roman says swaying back and forth while rubbing the back of his neck.
"You don't like blood?" I ask," Why?"
"I just don't, I mean why would you. It's inside of your body and it should stay there. No one needs to see that."
"Lucky for you, you don't need to help." Paige snaps.
"Well aren't you a little salty one," I say watching the two of them bicker and make faces at each other," You two are just so cute."
That brings Paige back to focus, "Oh shut up and show me what you found."
"Ah, yes," I say as I pull out the evidence that I found.
"A picture frame, really Quinn? A picture frame?" she says clearly annoyed.
"Yes a picture frame. A picture frame with an older picture of two younger people. The glass is cracked and it's blood stained," I pause before saying a final word," boom." I toss it on her bed so she can look at it closer.
"The entire place is blood stained at the moment so that last thing is invalid," she picks it up and studies it.
"Au contraire. This picture frame was extremely close to the massive puddle of blood we first saw."
"Okay, what's your point?" She asks putting it down and placing a hand in the pocket of her jacket.
"My point is that this is evidence that something happened and you said that if I found something to come tell you and you'd help. Well here I am with evidence in my hand and waiting for your answer. Will you help me?"
"Help you with what exactly? What are we going to do? We are just teenagers and last time I checked we are not the mystery gang!" She shouts.
"Yeah, we are just teenagers. We are full of life and energy. At least more than the older men who normally do this stuff," I say ignoring the Scooby-Doo reference," I want to do what they do, I want to know what happened to Darwin Doore. I want us to be the people to find him. Just imagine how amazing that would be."
"Quinn," she shifts her position.
"Please Paige, help me solve The Great Mystery of Darwin Doore."
