I watched her run off to do her other jobs. It was then I did something rather stupid, I snapped my spoon in half and glared at the perverted old frenchman. He jumped and everyone else looked in our direction, nervous and confused.
"What the hell do you think your doing, frog?" I threatened. Francis had a sly smile creep slowly on his face. He leaned forward and folded his hands under his chin.
"Helping out a pretty maiden in need, is that a bad thing?" His voice was smooth, but cool. It was a challenge, and that's one thing I'm not afraid of.
"No, but coming on to her is." My voice returned the challenge, and he chuckled. "What's the matter, you act as if I was hitting on your girlfriend... you like her, don't you?" I instantly became defensive when he said that.
"I do not! Don't be ridiculous! I just don't like the way you hit on women!" Everyone around us two was watching intently, listening to every word as if it was a great movie. Even Italy was focused on the upstart, slowly chewing on his breakfast and watching us carefully.
"Ahh, you do like her! I thought so, you are especially gentle when your around her." France's eyes lit up with excitement. I let my head fall onto the table with a loud thump.
"Goddammit Francis, I do not like her!" I grumbled, turning my face into the table to hide the burning sensation that foretold a blush.
"Why are you hiding your face then man? Whoa, wait, are you blushing?! Everyone look, Germany's blushing!" America laughed and pointed like a little kid with no manners. That's what really did it for me. I bolted upright and pounded my fist on the table. I loomed over the annoying american threateningly and got close to his face.
"Look here Alfred, I do not like her. There is no proof you have that can officially prove it. Is (y/n) attractive? Yes, she is. Do I have a slight maid fetish? Maybe... But there is no proof, so shut the hell up before I break your neck like I did that spoon..." I said it quietly, but just enough for everyone else to know I meant business. And with that, I just walked out.
Yeah, I'm not usually like that. I usually don't get defensive like that, nor have I ever acted like that before I think. Why did I do that? I'm not really sure, but I guess it was immature. Okay, it was pretty immature. But she always made me like that, just someone suspecting me liking her makes me nervous, so I try my best to throw them off my trail.
I saw (y/n) bounding back to the kitchen in a rush, she looked as his her feet were barely touching the floor as she ran on her toes. It was strange, but it was one of the things I liked about her.
"Hi Germany! You okay?" She paused and backtracked towards my direction, a concerned expression on her face.
"Ja, I'm fine." She just tilted her head and her eyebrows came together slightly. "You sure? You looked, I dunno, kinda angry I guess... well, I'll see you later I guess!" And just like that, she flew off. I shook my head a little bit to clear my head. She's pretty perceptive, and I don't know a great to many people who are like that.

                                                                          ~This Summer's Eve~

It was evening again. I don't know why, but this was one of my favorite things in the world: A summer evening, slight breeze carrying the scent of early summer and flowers, and the sky. The sky at this time was simply, as my older brother would put, awesome. And he was right. I sound girly don't I? Can you blame me though? My country isn't usually so warm during the summer months, so this was a beauty to behold.

        But not the only one...
My train of thought was interrupted by a quiet footstep heard from behind me, it sounded to quiet to sound normal, more like someone was trying to be quiet... Big brother must be trying to scare me, not this time! Without warning I whirled around and caught my brother by the waist, but only... that womanish yelp didn't sound like my brother..
        Oh god...
"Agh! Let go!" (y/n) yelled, and for someone built with such a small frame, she had a hell of a loud voice. I released her immediately and she whirled around to face me, and damn, the face she made scared my sins right out of me.
"What the heck?! What was that for?!" I put up my hands defensively. "Sorry, sorry. I thought you my older brother trying to sneak up on me." I explained. She furrowed her eyebrows and tilted her head, her cuteness seriously contradicting her previously terrifying facial feature.
"What do you mean? Why would you think I was sneaking up on you?" I shrugged, looking her up and down from head to toe... her toes. She walked on her toes like a cat, no wonder she was so quiet. And why wasn't she wearing shoes?
"You walk on your toes. What are you, a ninja?" I teased. She smiled, and I swear to god I felt my heart stop. Her smile was so sweet, innocent. It made the place brighter with just that little movement of her lips.
"It's something I've always done, since I was young. My best friends when I was younger were cats..." She sighed and leaned up on the rail bordering the outside hall from the central garden. She still had a smile, but her beautiful eyes told a long, sadder story. I leaned next to her, but not close enough to invade her space.
"Do you uh, wanna talk about it?" I asked awkwardly. She just tsked and shook her head. "No, it's to long. Much to long, and to sad. It would bother you..." She stood up straight and stretched, standing on just the very tip of her toes as she did so. How the hell did she have so much balance?
"Oh... That's alright. We all have things we would rather not talk about." I said sympathetically. She nodded and understood what I meant.
"And one last question..." I said before she turned around to leave. "Yeah? What is it?" I pointed out her bare feet. "Why aren't you wearing shoes? You could cut your feet, especially with all the things that get broken around here." That's when she giggled. Dear god, it was so innocent. How could a sound like that exist in such a cruel world like this?!
"Silly. Haven't you noticed that there hasn't been any messes?" She suggested. That's when I realized, no, there haven't been. I haven't even had to yell at Italy for being a lazy slob today.
"And also, I hate wearing shoes... so there is no reason for me to wear them." She waved as she walked away. "Enjoy the rest of the evening!" She called down the hall, before turning a corner and disappearing from my night. I sighed and looked up at the now purple and orange sky. Stars were just becoming visible, but were still faint. I pondered what she had said to me before.

My best friends when I was younger were cats...

       It's something I've always done...

        Since I was young...

It made me wonder how she grew up. Did she have a lot of cats, was she not raised properly, did she just love animals? I shook my head and stood up straight.
I guess it was time to turn in for the night, it was getting late now, and we had another conference tomorrow night. Just the thought of another pointless meeting filled me with dread. No one took it seriously, so what the hell was the point?
I don't know, but I still thought about (y/n) while getting into bed that night....
