(Scenario: You and Liam have been dating for several months and you've been following him and the boys on their tour. However, due to scheduling conflicts, you have to fly home.)

Your ears, as well as the inside of your chest, are still buzzing from the adrenaline of the concert.

However, now that it's over, you feel your heart slowly sinking like honey. You sigh and watch as the rest of the passengers shuffle their way down the aisle of the plane.

You glance at one guy and then look back down at your iPod. But after about a millisecond, you make a tiny gasp and bring your eyes back to his face.

It's him. 'What's he doing here?' you think.

He's wearing a snapback and aviators but you'd recognize him even if he was all the way across the airport runway.

You just stare as he gets closer to your seat and he nudges the middle-aged business woman sitting beside you.

"Excuse me. Would you mind switching seats with me? She's my girlfriend," Liam says, gesturing towards you.

The woman grunts in irritation, but nods and grabs her bag from beneath the seat. "Thank you," he says. "It's seat 12A." He takes a seat and you see him wink behind his sunglasses.

You scoff at him. "You really thought sporting a hat and hiding your eyes would be a good disguise? Any Directioner would know it's you in a second."

"Like you?" Liam asks with a half-smile. You lose your breathe for a second. You still can't believe he's actually sitting next to you right now.

He laughs and pinches your cheek. You regain your composure and shove his hand away, laughing along with him.

He then kicks his backpack under his seat and asks, "So what'd you think of us tonight, babe?"

"You SUCKED," you reply, sticking your tongue out. He jokingly drops his jaw in shock, making you laugh even harder. "I'm kidding. Of course you guys were amazing as always."

"Did you cry?" he asks. You turn away from him and look out the window.

"Maaaybe," you say coyly. "You know 'Moments' always gets to me."

"I know." You feel his cool lips on your cheek. "I saw your face in the crowd."

"Hey," your voice is serious now. "Why are you here anyway? Why aren't you flying with the guys?"

He finally takes his glasses off, grinning. "I sort of am flying with them." Right on cue, the two people sitting in front of you turn around to face you and pull their own sunglasses down to reveal amused eyes.

You realize it's Louis and Harry. Louis points to the people sitting across from you. Zayn, in a business suit, and Niall, in a baby blue sundress and curly blonde wig, wave at you.

Niall caresses his tissue-filled bra and says in a high voice, "Fancy our disguises?" You cover your mouth so you won't burst into laughter.

"Oh my...God, what are you guys doing here?" you say, obvious joy in your voice.

Harry grabs your hand and kisses it. "We came to escort a lady home, of course." You instantly smile ear-to-ear, feeling like you couldn't possibly be any more happy.

However, your smile drops when the captain announces it's time for take-off. The boys all turn back to buckle up.

Your hands reflexively grip the arms of your seat, your palms already sweating. You quickly suck in a breath and exhale like you always do before take-off.

Liam hears your shaky breath and turns to scrutinize your face. His lips curl into a tiny smile and he holds his hand out, palm up. Your eyes stay on it for a few seconds and then dart back to his face.

"I'm okay. I'm okay," you say firmly, your eyes looking at everything besides the window. 'God, I hate flying,' you think.

"Come on," he murmurs, resting his hand on top of yours.

"No. I'm okay. Besides, my hands are sweaty—"

"It's all right, I don't care."

"Really. I'm okay—" Before you can finish your sentence, you feel the plane jerk into the air and the ground abruptly disappear beneath the wheels. Talking to Liam had distracted you from your usual routine to brace for take-off.

You audibly gasp and clutch onto a fistful of Liam's T-shirt without even thinking.

He gently uncurls your fingers from the fabric and instead laces them through his. His hand is big, warm and oddly soothing.

When he notices your tense muscles relax, he smiles bigger, flashing you his teeth. "See? Isn't that better?"

"Shut up," you grumble. The plane shakes a little, causing you to tighten your grip.

He runs his thumb across the top of your hand. "Don't worry, it'll stop soon."

With his other hand, he eases your head down to your chest and smoothes your hair. "Go on to sleep. I know you're tired."

You just bite your lip. He knows you're uncomfortable sleeping on planes.

"I'll be right here the whole time. I promise I won't leave." You unsuccessfully try to hide a smile. Your ear rests right over his heart and you drift off as you listen to his melodic heartbeat.

You wonder if he can hear your own heart beating....

Why was 'Moments' playing? Had you left your music playing? You reach up to pull your earphone out of your ear when you realize your iPod is still in your pocket. It's not your music. It's Liam. Singing softly in your ear.

His hand lays over your heart and he feels your heart rate going crazy. Realizing your awake, he lifts your chin up with his index finger to face him and he whispers, "Hello there."

He gives you a quick kiss and lets you go. You look out the window, completely dazed (you're not sure if it's because of your grogginess or Liam's kiss), and see that you've landed home. Passengers are already standing up and stretching.

You reluctantly untangle your hands so Liam can get his other bag from the overhead bin. You watch as he rubs his eyes and you have a strong urge to pull him back into the seat.

Had he stayed awake that whole time...? You smile to yourself.

If flying meant spending all this precious time with Liam's hand in yours, yu wouldn't mind being in the air for a few more moments. Or hours.

"Thanks, Liam," you say. 'I love you,' you want to add.

You and Liam exchange glances and you know he knows. "Always," he says.
