"Any coward can fight a battle when he's sure of winning, but give me the man who has pluck to fight when he's sure of losing. That's my way, sir; and there are many victories worse than a defeat" - George Eliot
Júmina's POV
I quickly found my way towards Lauren as the whole cafeteria became loud in hysteria. Almost too comical, you could hear the chiming of recording buttons being pressed and I was ready to give the people what they asked for. Jimma and Casey were already fighting and Lauren stood patiently waiting for me- fist balled, arms squared- basically waiting for me to whoop her ass.
My approach was quick- too quick for any ready Lauren to catch up with. So when I swung my fist and hit Lauren in the face, the whole cafeteria erupted into the hype. My body felt lighter than normal and my heart felt like it stopped beating as I lived in the moment. We moved along the circle tables in fast uneven movements and I even lost my footing. All I could think about was the fifty dollar hoodie completely ruined now. That bright orange peach- stain would never come out of my aqua blue and white striped Pink jacket. I want Lauren to be reminded of me, every time she looked in the mirror- equivalent to whenever I would see my ruined hoodie. What I was doing right now wasn't assault it was justification. I was almost completely sure Casey came over here running her mouth and Lauren wanted to stand up for herself, but my jacket was innocent and needed justice.
"My favorite hoodie, bitch I just bought that this weekend and your Jimmy Neutron head ass wanna throw peach juice at it." My words were quick, but my hands were faster. Every time Lauren hit me I swung harder and when she swung harder, I got even more upset. Did she think this was a game?
I was a good five minutes away, from being done with Lauren, when I tripped over someone's leg. The leg was long and skinny- almost tree trunk like, but it was thin- the leg that stopped my anger directed in Lauren's way was now directed towards whoever tripped me. As I fell to the ground I pulled a new set of golden curls with me.
The girl let out a shriek and tried pulling against my grip, as I cocked my fist back and swung.
'Crunch'
The noise was loud and I felt my nose almost touch the back of my skull. Letting my hands drop the hair, I quickly covered my noses and groaned. Lauren had another coming if she thought stomping my face into the school's basement was cool. My eyes watered and I wanted to cry, but breathing was hard. I felt suffocated, like I was breathing in lava straight from a volcano. My throat was raw and I felt I would shatter all the windows if I screamed. So instead of crying- which is what I really wanted to do- I stood up and held my bloody nose as Trudy stood horrified in front of me, letting me know she was the one who caused my fall. Her honey brown eyes were fixed on a point behind me- Lauren the bitch who was seconds away from death- the culprit to my now broken nose.
I turned my head ready to see a triumphed faced Lauren, but when I met eye-to-eye with the person who stomped my face in like roach, I became bewildered. Whoever told this child purple was in style needed to be stopped before more ugly bitches tried it. Her brown eyes were dead and moved back and forth like the ticking to a clock and her lips were set straight. Trudy must've made a new friend, or Lauren and Jimma had decided to finally get a fourth member to join their clique who could actually fight. Whoever she was, being smart wasn't a strong suit of hers.
The lunchroom was dead silent. So quiet the silence in a morgue would envy, but I was ready to destroy it all. My mind was hot with fury and I wanted payback, broken nose or not, purple bitch was out of line. "Yo' what's go-" My sentence got cut short when I found my mouth full of the girl's fist. I was going to show her where she fucked up from the beginning to the middle and end.
