Tyler seems sad so here's fluff to make it better.
Tyler woke up regretfully that morning. His eyelids fluttered open only to be met with dim light spilling through the blinds of his window.
He groaned and rolled over, pulling the blanket up around him further. He outstretched his arm to rest on the pillow next to him. He wished there was a soft mess of red hair resting on that pillow.
Now that they were on a break from work, the two boys had parted ways to be home for a while. Tyler missed Josh more than he thought it was healthy, and he often wondered if Josh missed him too.
Tyler reached out and grabbed his phone from behind him on the table by his bed.
I wonder what he's doing today.
Tyler typed up a text that read:
Hey man what are u up to today?:))But then he shook his head and deleted the words. He locked his phone and threw it down next to him. No way was he going to be clingy and annoying.
But he felt so alone. He told himself Josh was probably going out today and he was probably going to have a lot of fun based on the pictures he's been seeing lately.
And what was Tyler doing? Sitting in his small house in Ohio, wearing the same pair of sweats and sweatshirt for much too long, spilling his feelings out onto paper to hopefully make music out of it.
He felt a tear roll down his cheek. God he was so pathetic. Here he was, a grown man laying in bed crying about his best friend not being next to him 24/7.
Tyler pushed the covers off of his body and wiped a tear away quickly as he padded across the wood floor in his barely lit bedroom.
The weather outside was not much help. It was always grey and cloudy outside and all that did was make Tyler feel like never getting out of bed.
He made his way to the kitchen and made himself some tea. His mother always said tea was like a hug from the inside and if he couldn't get one on the outside then this was his last resort.
Tyler sat at the kitchen table sipping his tea, flipping through his journal. He was struggling with a song at the moment. It just seemed like nothing was right. The balance of life was off. The melody just wasn't there and he didn't know why he was struggling so much. Something was missing. Josh was missing.
Tyler thought about how a song wasn't much of a song without a heavy drum beat behind it. It reminded him of how he wasn't much of a person without Josh by his side.
The house was deafeningly quiet and it was clearly starting to get to Tyler, until he heard a faint ringing. It was his phone. He sighed heavily and got up from the table to check his phone which lay on his bed still.
He picked it up from the blankets and was greeted with the wide smiling, squinty-eyed boy he missed so much. He tapped the answer button.
"Josh!" He spit out suddenly, with much more enthusiasm than he thought he could muster up today.
"Tyler! Hey what's up man?" He heard Josh's voice and instantly every cold, limp muscle in his body warmed and perked up. It worked a lot better than the tea.
"Oh nothing, you know, writing songs and stuff. Not much else. What have you been up to?" Tyler plopped down on his bed happily, just waiting to hear more of Josh's smooth voice fill his ears.
"Well that's why I'm calling you actually." Josh giggled and then there was a pause before he began again.
"I'm at the airport right now waiting to get on a flight to Columbus."
